Anyone been apple to play Apple Music tracks stored locally on their iPhone through the MMI over the wifi link?

I'm using it because I find it easier than the cable.
But hey don't let me stop you using the cable.

In my experience the Audi app doesn't work with Apple Music tracks; whether or not they're stored locally on the phone. Only works with your own tracks synchronised from iTunes

Can't you just pop the music on an SD card? Much more convenient.

I personally dont bother with SD cards, not even mp3s.... only Spotify now. Much more convenient for constantly updated playlists. Hope Bluetooth will do for me (or the Audi cable in phone box)

I have Spotify and stream everything over Bluetooth, album art etc all works. Glad the saleman convinced me as I was about to waste money on the cable.

Nope, you can't move Apple Music tracks to a card unless they're bought via iTunes.
The stored tracks need to be on a phone/iPod with a data connection so it can validate your Apple Music account before it will play them.

I may have to try going bluetooth again then - it was the noticeable volume drop, compared to the cable, that put me off - also sounded a little more compressed, although that might just be me.
Tried Apple Music for the free 3 month period - got full functionality with the cable, however I prefer Spotify (tried Deezer as well but always end up back with Spotify). Little functionality waith the cable other than "plug and play" so might have to try over bluetooth.

Great to hear you can stream all the data (album art, title etc) via bluetooth.
Regarding compression, you can adjust settings differently for streamed music and downloaded music (assuming you have a premium account). I usually choose middle setting for streaming and awesome (320kbps) for sync music. I hope this will be good enough for B&O system...

I tried Spotify over Bluetooth on mine and skipping tracks would skip onto any music on my phone - so I'm currently on the 3 month free Apple Music trial - but trust me that is far from perfect (on my phone anyway)

Works great for me.
Couple of things to note though:
You need data turned on for the Apple Music App even when playing a playlist that is already downloaded as it needs to authenticate your account but It won't use much data if the tracks are already downloaded.
I also discovered that you need to reselect the playlist in the MMI to save getting any sync problems with songs or artwork whenever you change the contents of the playlist.

If you don't add or remove songs the playlist will behave perfectly.
If you do add or remove songs just reselect the playlist in the MMI to let the car update itself with the new list.

I use a spare iPhone with a PAYG Sim in the car for music but if you're using an iPod Touch you may have issues with the lack of data connection when out and about.

Which iphone and which iOs ? If I remember well, it had been corrected some years ago.

I also find the Bluetooth quality bad and volume so low that I end up using the cable most of the time.

However that has its own issue as I can't skip forward and back in anything except the music on my device. No other application will allow me to skip using the newest lightning cable. The yellow labeled one. Not happy. Bluetooth does without issue.
