Well im postive some of you members have jinxed me!!!

Audi a4 b7 avant sline 2.0 tdi version

My rear arm seems to droop abit as it is
...however i **** you not
I was driving along road and my rear wiper just comes on..by itself lol
I never knocked the stalk either

I tried to knock it off but it was having none of it untill it randomly stoped...in the wrong position ...jeez

So after half adozen attempts i got it back to normal

Ive been reading on the glorious rear wiper MODS you can do

Ive read the b8 mod? And the Q5 mod

Which is the better option
And in regards to my motor
Ive also read that water can leak down and cause problems

Well when i open the boot my plastic panel looks like it has been wet (could be when the dealer had it..washed it/sprayed back to black crap on but never wiped off properly)

So peeps tell me
what mod is best
Either b8 and q5 and whats the differnce

Has anyone else had this happen to them...randomly moving and setting in wrong position

How to fix it

And i gather my motor is kabooshed
Ill have to have a closer look under the plastic

Oh its still under warrenty but ill not be able to prove it moves randomly ahahah

Sorry for the loooong story but more infor the better

Cheers

Can't help you with the wiper arm /blade mods - but I wish I'd done the Q5 one when I had to replace the arm last year. Then again, it's a wiper - - -

Yes, it sounds like the motor is fecked. Usually because of water ingress, usually because as it's a carp design. The pipe through the spindle fails and lets water into the mech. Which of course should be fairly obvious once you get it off, so that should support your warranty claim maybe?

rear washer leaks are well documented in B7 avant's and very common, as the washer fluid pipe passes through the wiper motor via the shaft normally they are very prone to leak and the washer water leaks into the wiper motor housing and then leaks out and makes your tailgate wet and puddles fill up in the spare wheel well, i had the problem at a very low milage and audi replaced the whole assembly under warranty, if you remove the whole tailgate trim and operate the washer you will see if it's leaking, you would be amazed at how much water can accumalate in a very short time period this way..

if you have an extended warranty then maybe, but not allways.

As you can see the damp patches i was talking about before. On closer inspection i could see it dropping on the inside :blownose: im off to australia tomorrow for two weeks so its gona have to wait untill i gst back so how do i fix this...just renew it with an a4 one and replace the arm with a q5

well without removing the trim cover it's difficult to be 100% sure, but, when mine sprung a leak it was exactly the same, i also found water in the lock recess, have a look in the spare wheel well, probably wet aswell, you can allways tell if the back of a cars got a water leak, the tailgate window allways get fogged up on the inside, well mine was.

just get a new motor, and reuse your old arm or get a q5 one, I'm not sure how much better the Q5 / A8 arms are to be honest, i had a new A4 one put back onto the new motor, been fine ever since and i cant really see any reason to change the arm/blade over... just my input.

There's a recent thread either on the B6 or 7 forum with part numbers for the Q5 arm. 'Search' is your friend.

Thanks all
Ill sort this when i get back....but now im off to australia

I have the same happening to mine, and had it on my a3 too! its there any mods that can be done to stop if happening on the new motor?

Replaced the motor on my B8 last year, same part. They are a poor design Valeo motor. I looked for a Bosch part to replace it but seems Valeo are about the best out there. There are cheap Chines makes but they are unlikely to be any better.
