2016 Map Update

Guys,
What about cars produced now or in the coming weeks, lets say mine should be available january/february 2016.
Will I get the 2016 maps pre loaded or will I have to 'spend' one of my 'free' updates on doing it ?

I suspect some manufacturers sometimes produce cars without pre loading the latest firmares/maps for their sat nav... so hope this wont be the case with Audi !

Mine came factory fresh with out of date maps so I am in this situation and really don't know the answer. To keep things simple would work better if they just said free updates during your warranty period.

Depends on your dealership really.

Maybe contact them in advance and ask for it to be up to date for collection?

Well, that's a good idea to prevent AUdi factory failure... even if I don't like the idea of dealership having to mess with my MMI while it was just produced. Factory should give you the latest material.... :/

Would be even better in my case as I have taken the 3y extension so would have 5 years of free updates and then the audi connect ones ^^
Dreaming...

Did I read somewhere on here that a 64GB card wouldn't work and you actually needed a 32GB one specifically?

Could be my memory playing tricks on me.

Think any size above 32Gb should work fine.

Both my SD card slots have 128Gb cards in at the mo one for music and the other for video.

Had a phone call from the Executive Office at Audi UK this morning - the guy said it was in response to my email to Audi AG about the disappearance of the Map Update facility on MyAudi. He apologised for the trouble we've all experienced and he said he is in contact with the relevant people in Audi AG and they will report back on what they have discovered. It sounds as though they are taking it seriously so let's see what happens next.

That's good to hear - thanks for the feedback ;o)

Still waiting my feed back call from customer services .....

Also had 2 calls from Audi UK this morning they are aware of the problem and are also reading this thread (Hi Guys) as I sent the link letting them know a number of us have the same problem.

I've got the same problem. Downloaded the last update no problem at all. Now the option has disappeared. Tried multiple browsers, but no joy. Hoping they resolve it.

I wrote a mail to Audi here... and they then wrote an "error" ticket to Audi Germany. So, lets see what will be the answer or fix. :)

Another call from Audi Executive Office today and whilst he was on the phone to Audi AG he asked me to try to see if the Map Update was available. It wasn't so it's still WIP whilst AG try to resolve. But at least they're onto the case.

I just got on it at work and it tells me the service is not available now, are they working on it because I could befroe...

Just checked on my PC via Chrome, and Map Update still showing as available same as yesterday - no problem here.
I wonder why it is affecting some owners and not others. Weird.

Clear down cookies / temporary files and then try again. Also check your version of Java is up to date (I had to update mine, a new release was put out just a few days back)

Perhaps you need those hawkeyes  post #110
"With ie11 reset your browser setting in tools/advanced and make sure java and any other plugins are installed and up to date and delete all cookies and history"....

Seems strange as I can still see the update in both Chrome and Safari on Mac OSX. Doesn't always allow me to download, quite often get a 'Service no longer available' popup after clicking the download button..

Houston (Ingolstadt) you have a problem BUT you don't know what it is or when it will be fixed !!!

Please do not adjust your sets Audi have acknowledged that there is an issue so no amount of cookie clearing or Java updates will help at this point in time.

Thanks I did see that previously but with 4 pages on this topic, but possible some may not.
Was only trying to help those with the problem, my update service works fine.

For those that could download the files, how long did the update take on the car? Mine's being going for an hour and still not done, on a decent Class 10 SD card too (45MB/sec)

Just as an FYI, it does seem to continue updating for a period of time after you turn the ignition off, not sure how long though. Stuck mine in and had to go into work on short notice so was only driving for 10 minutes before turning the car off, when I came back a couple hours later it had stopped but was about a ⅓ of the way through, didn't take long once ignition was back on!

Just the GB and Ireland update 1.2GB updated in around 5min in the car.

Just for the people with this My.Audi missing Map Update option (myself included) I have it on VERY good authority that your car is not locked out and will accept the update. Good to know it's not an issue with the car or MMI.

The regional States download I did earlier this week was a total of 3.12GB which I copied to my 4GB SD card it updated in about 10-15minutes. Although I turned off the car at minute 14 to go work out and started it up 2 hours later where it prompted the Navigation update had finished.

Then I realized this is not really necessary if you have Audi Connect activated on your MMI Navigation Plus, because if you do then you're likely like me and are using Google Maps which updates are OTA driven and completely different.

Just logged in to myAudi and I no longer have the map update option available either.

My car is one year old, and I've done two previous map downloads with no issues.

Will watch the outcome of this thread with interest.

I tried to phone my contact (Vinshal) at Audi Executive Office today as I hadn't heard any more from him since last week. He is in Germany for 1 week so I spoke to another person (Mark) who gave me the "yes we are aware of the problem and no I don't know when it will be fixed" spiel. He said someone had taken over Vinshal's cases and that this person would be in contact. So no further news from me I'm afraid to say. :sleepy:

I had a call back from Ali the chap handling my call from Audi Customer Services. He said that it had been handed over to Audi Germany and asked if there was anything else he could help me with so sounds like my ticket is now effectively closed with no ETA ! ;o(

For those without tech pack (and who don't have the option to download, even when it works):

SD Nav is still at the previous version. The part number is in the system for 2016 but it cant be ordered yet.

Now, back to everyone's download option disappearing.....

Hahaaa, just figured out a solution guys!!!!!:tongueclosed::tongueclosed::tongueclosed::tongueclosed:

Just get into your "service" tab in your myaudi page as usual, the url should be something like:
https://my.audi.com/content/us/myau...il.YOUR_VIN_NUMBER.html#tab/services/service/twitter

The red part depends on what widget you are currently in. Now just replace that red part with "mapcare":
https://my.audi.com/content/us/myau...il.YOUR_VIN_NUMBER.html#tab/services/service/mapcare

Hit enter then its gonna show you something like this, you'll see map update tab even though you don't have a widge for that:

Now go ahead and enjoy!!!

Don't copy my url, all you need to do is change the string you have in your url after ".../service/" into "mapcare".

Turns out that actually the page has been always there, it just doesn't show the widget for you to click, not sure if this a prank from Audi:tongueclosed::tongueclosed:.

PS, looks like by putting different things after that ".../service/", i can go into something i am not supposed to have:tongueclosed::tongueclosed::tongueclosed::

Really wish I can have remote lock on my A3 though:tongueclosed::tongueclosed::tongueclosed:.

That's amazing - I'll check it later today. And to think the best brains at Audi couldn't work it out and they even sent a UK guy to Germany to find a solution. I'm not sure how you figured it out but thanks a million. It'll be interesting when the guy phones me on Monday and probably says they are still working on it!

You r welcome glospete and glad to hear that worked for you Rob2k68.

Updates: Looks like sometimes "mapcare" could give you a page saying "service not available". If that happens you can also try "mapcare1" and "mapcare2"
