Been giving the S3 a good clean and polish today and noticed that my front grill is cracked - looks like someone has driven into it whilst it been parked up. Whilst inspecting the damage i noticed this plug type thing hanging down behind the grill and in front of the radiator - anyone know what it is?

Where's the crack/damage to the front grill? I just see a hanging sensor in from the radiator behind a perfectly okay looking grill.

I think he means on the bottom at the base of the first vertical strip.

Many thanks for the replies and sorting the pictures. The grey grill is cracked bottom left of the picture and above the number plate. The lower thin black grill is broken with all 3 or so uprights (only one shown in picture).
Anyone know the cost of a new grill? I'm guessing that i'll need the whole grey/chrome section and then the black section below. The bumper itself appears to be fine.

Wow, the Temperature Sensor just "hangs" there from those two scrawny bits of wire ??

Picture in my mind of what it would look like / how it would be fixed just doesn't match the reality.

I'm sure it shouldn't be just hanging there like that! Probably knocked out by the impact to the grille.

Sounds like a good excuse to replace it with an rs3 grill to me

Would really appreciate if someone could photograph where the temperature sensor should be attached. Thanks

Where's the best place to get a rs3 grill? I saw one in eBay not sure of quality etc tho

I bought a rs3 grill for my 8p s3 from xennon on eBay and couldn't fault it fitted perfectly so I'd expect the 8v grill to be the same quality

I'm new to the Audi been a Vauxhall nan all my life just sold my Astra Vxr and bought a a3 sline sports back 2.0tdi 150, how do you remove the front bumper?

I'm the same been Vauxhall all my life aswell it's not much harder than removing the Astra vxr bumper if u have ever done that.. Can't remember exactly how many bolts are on the a3 but it's pritty straight forward couple of bolts in the arches underneath and unclip it gently.

Yea had the bumper off the Vxr loads of times, I'll have to investigate how they come off can't be to hard tho! I test drove the new Vxr j and hated it was a big let down so I test drove a few cars and went for the Audi and love the car, I've ordered a few bits such as boot liner and wind deflectors also a front bumper splitter was looking at the rs3 grills and led interior bulbs next

No it's not mate basically more bolts and more unclipping to do well it was on the 8p not sure if the 8v will be any worse... I was just wanting a change from Vauxhall so decided not to test drive the vxr j incase I liked it! Got a 2010 s3 then the 1 I have now yeah the rs3 grill will make a big difference I will be getting 1 very soon!

Yea the Audi is a far better built car mate I be honest, we have ordered a s3 sportsback for March reg my wife has a tt on pcp that end in March so we will use the 2 cars between us both 5 door ready for our little one on way. Can't wait to drive the s3 tho she want be having it much I'm first to work in the mornings lol

Haha yeah I love the s3 that was the reason I changed to the new s3 sport hatch because we had a little 1 on the way and needed the extra doors (she's 8weeks old now)

First time I've seen the rs grill! That looks awesome. I love the Quattro on the bottom.

I need to do this asap!
Where did you get the grill, expensive much and how did you get just the s3 on it. Is it just a badge that'll clip on and off?

Difficult job to do TBH. Took about 4 hours to swop out!

You can get the grill from here:

http://www.xenonz.co.uk/audi-a3-to-rs3-8v-2013.html

The S3 badge was bonded on using body panel adhesive (sticks like sh*t type product from motor factors).

Love the new RS3 grill, compliments the fog surrounds too :)

Thanks alot!
I see they have it blacked out too which will go great with my BSP!

Time is on my side as I have full run of my workshop on weekends when it's closed!
I'd going to say being an audi the grills are fitted in a more secure way, than say a vauxhall would be?

I think I'll get a dtuk box and this with my next payslip.
