Hey guys..

I've got an A3 8P 2006..

I just bought some coilovers.. went for the JOMs and just waiting for them to arrive.

I had the impression that going 45mm low is more than enough until I spoke to this guy that had it 75mm and it doesn't seem TOO low compared to what I envisioned at 45mm.

Post some photos of your ride with the specs so I could get an idea please (preferably from the side)? Also your experience when it comes to bumps, etc..

Now I'm thinking of going as far as 70mm, but that would depend..

I know right?

This is the guy's ride, on 70mm apparently. Surely it doesn't as low as you'd think it would?

Either way, if that is 70mm, I want.

Thanks guys, got that. Now show me your lows, whether its 45-50mm, or 70mm.. I want to see how they sit, and please let me what kind of issues you're having, when it comes to practicality around bumps etc..

Would me much appreciated.

I'd post a pic but think it be pretty pointless as I assume the s3 is lower to start with ,but no way is that 70mm unless it had stilts for springs before

Smirky, fair enough. Cheers. :)

Rick, I guess it's a matter of preferences as I read good and bad stuff about most products. To be fair though, these are budget coilovers, and they seem to be alright for the money. Of course, if I were to invest more in better quality ones, I'd go for some H&R, but I'm not so these will have to do! :)

All I'm trying to find out is how hard do people have it with driving 45-55mm low cars.

All depends on wheel and tyre combo to be honest

The arch screw is a big source of rubbing, majority of people have it removed

JOM make me cry

LOL.

But actually a lot of people would tell you they are good value for money. When I had my mk3 Golf I ended up putting 3 sets of JOM suspension through it before I just gave up. They all kept leaking. More fool me eh. Just left it standard in the end up. But yeah people say they are good value for money...............

Yeah people say that if they've never had anything else. Me on the other hand, I've had JOM's, AP's and H&r coilovers and the best value for money is the AP's hands down.

In response to the original question, there's pics in the thread below of 50mm lowered on h&r springs and AP coilovers which has a stated lowering range of up to -65mm and of course I had them as low as possible.

2 years later on the same coilovers still as low as possible and it's no problems for me.

Check my progress thread for more updated photos

I had coilovers on my old A3 and was lowered by around 50mm.

OK novice question once you have say AP coilovers fitted if you need to change ride height do you need to take the wheel off to make the adjustment? Are there indicators so you get the same height on each side.

There's enough room to adjust them with the wheels on.

And the only indication you can use is measuring the amount of thread you have left under the adjustment collar or count how many threads you can see and set the same on both sides.
