---

I've had short run-ins with three 330s.

Oh, I could gain on all three, admittedly only slightly and I think it was because I got the drop on them. Overall, very similar, so I don't see how anyone can own anyone over this (tuned aside). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

My most recent one was quite funny watching the 330 driver trying to stay in front of the Carrera 4 I was tailing. As if. I just sat back and watched the (brief) fun. The only two cars I saw trying to hold up the Porker and they were both beemers. It's just a fact I saw, not trying to infer anything you understand /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif FYI, I didn't even bother with the porker, moved in politely and sat behind. The result would have been embarassing, bit like what happened to the 330. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm not anti BMW. They have brilliant steering and the engines sound great IMHO. Apparently though, I hear they need two extra cylinders to get the same performance? Is that true?

[/ QUOTE ]

Lol they weren't trying to hold up the Porker, they were just driving in "their" lane /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Funniest I saw was John in a Golf Diesel take out a 325 coupe at the lights /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Bmws always look best when seen in the rear view mirror & It's even better if you can get one'em to drop their phone in surprise!

I'm sorry..... not me squire!. I would NEVER drive a BMW and I don't want to be associated with this Titan tw*t!. I've not logged in for ages as the board was VERY quiet when I joined...... nice to see things have livened up a bit!

Since this jolly thread started I have had a number of encounters with 330ci boys, none of which have been especially conclusive. However, the most memorable took place on a busy stretch of the M1 a couple of weeks back, heading south from J15. I came across a blacked out 330ci indescriminately flooring regardless of whether space allowed. He was also obviously very short sighted - either that or he seemed to entertain an unhealthy fascination in the rear end of every car that occupied the outside lane. When I came up behind him my presence apparently dislodged the already loose wire in his circuitry as he then proceeded to undertake and weave his way through extremely dense traffic at between 120 and 130mph. Finally, when we came to a head to head opportunity with relatively clear road ahead we went for it but, rather than slow down when a car in the fast lane ahead failed to pull over, he undertook at approx 155 mph with centimetres to spare (it was terrifying actually) and with his thumbs up out of the window as if to brag "I won". I didn't follow him and I was more than happy to see him drive off in the deluded belief that I was the loser because I wasn't going to initiate a multiple pile up.

The Dutch have a tendancy to jump red lights, and this I have seen done in extreme cases when racing cars, I have taken them on dual carriageway and then slam on the brakes for the red, only to have them a second or two later fly through the lights....scary ****.

I am always happy to know not only can I out pace them but also out brake them! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I sucessfully disposed of a 51 reg 325i lastnight, no traffic light crap just open road up to 140. Fair game though, fair game. Past 120 he was gaining but not by enough to overtake my chariot of cool.

I was not impressed considering they are 2.5 litres, mind you nothing defeats "evil bass weapons XVii" played loud /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/heart.gif

I know exactly the car you mean - I've seen him. In my case he went from the outside lane to the inside lane and back to the outside lane again to undertake a bunch of cars. I really don't think he was happy I'd just overtaken him. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

While this subject still rages & we've been discussing the merits of BMW drivers and mobile phones I thought I'd add..

I don't know if you've heard, but starting 1 December 2003 you will no
longer be able to use a mobile phone while driving, unless you have a
"hands
free" adaptor.

I went to Carphone Warehouse and they wanted £50 for a headset with a boom
microphone for a mobile phone. I have found an alternative from Office
World. These kits are compatible with any mobile phone and one size fits
all. I paid £ 5 each for buying in quantity ( I have 25 ). I'm selling them
for £10

I have tried them out at work on Ericsson, Motorola, & Nokia phones and
they
worked
perfectly. A photo is attached. Take a look as there are several styles
and
let me know if you want one.
Don't like to make money from friends but I am really thinking of your
safety.

I can also get it in black, grey and fashion colours like Tiffany blue.

Sweet jesus...
Looks like I missed all the fun then!
Shame realy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Sorry bmw man, the 330 is not as fast as you had hoped for, you looked realy upset as I passed you, but we both died of shame when the Nova passed us both!
A27 Port Solent lights 2030hrs Last night Westbound
On the same note, the 1.8 T A4 that passed me this morning, NNNice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif! Chipped I think? Your front end seemed to be alive with each gear change. But then we all have our off days!
Jesus I cant wait till I can afford the RS4, then My old Audi driving buddies will stop treating me like a BMW driver! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif

Just for the sake of it if the bmw crew drop buy. Read their thread and the started talking about high end cars just for the sake of it the bmw dudes might want to look at the audi tt le mans edition. Sure it's not a standard model no where near actually but still proves that Audi has what it takes to build true sport cars.

After picking up a new (225) TT (with girlfriend, Anna) I've found my driving has changed. At one time I was a lot more relaxed about driving and was never into trying beat people at the lights. Now that I can, I want to! Of course, I don't want to look a fool so will have to choose my compeition carefully. So, who should be left well alone? I'm going to leave M3s I think but what else? Are Mercs generally OK to take on?

Steve

P.S. I'm an ex BMW driver but I hope that won't hold it against me.

Just to be sure of anything you'll be needing a chip /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif 260-270hp should see off most.

It's a hard one if it's raining then not many cars will be able to get the same launch that a Quattro can, but also these days it does depend on the driver and mods on the cars. You should be fearful of my A3T for instance although looking pretty normal it will give you a good race off of the line....but only in the dry, if it's wet fear very little.

Opps, how rude of me. Welcome to the boards. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Nah seriosuly m8... chipped A3t's arent far behind S3's... they only really take it on starts due to 4wd, but once rolling, an S3/TT will not loose a chipped A3T (tried and tested m8!)

Okay I know - I was only hoping to wind up the Dutchman.

A little afternoon sport - stuck in an office while the sun reclines outside on a perfect afternoon.

My world is just peachy thanks. 6.49 seconds 0-60 not on paper actually done by myself! And proof of a chipped A3 staying with S3's can be told by any number of people, it's a reality. That's why S3/TT drivers should get their cars chipped just so you don't have people like me beating them off the line or definately when rolling!

Anyway, back to topic. It's a valid and interesting question. What would you take on? For me, the following are targets:

Scoobies
330cis
Honda Rs
TTs (not that many are chipped and they think they're always fastest.
Clio V6s
Golf R32s and V6 4motions

I may not always win but I'll always have a go...

I'll take on anything, it's always worth a laugh even if you loose...plus it's no fun always winning I find.

OK. So next obvious question is how do I get it chipped and how much will it cost?

An excellent question Steve and one which I feel we should discuss more frequently on this forum. In fact not enough time is given to determining the merits and demerits of various tuners here. If you want my opinion, Revo is the best. I know this because I have it in my car and it feels good - I mean really good. It cost £750 with Vat and comes with a dongle which you use to switch between stock and re-map, and it's UNDETECTABLE! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/groovy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/groovy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/groovy.gif

I get the impression this is a /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/snore.gif subject and been discussed to death on other threads. I'll go and hunt them down.
