I sold my 2012 3 ltr Tdi A4 today in Sydney via internet advertising. We have a healthy 2nd hand market. Trade ins can be insulting with the dealers then selling them for heaps more. Auctions exist, and "pop up" strips of road just kind of happen with people sticking signs in the window. A lot of people go the trade in route here because its easy. But thats about all. The guy who bought my car today paid a fair price and in turn got a really good car in excellent condition that had been really well looked after. How do you guys prefer to sell your cars?

I just traded in my old B7 with Audi but only because it had a fault with the traction control and a worn clutch and flywheel which I wasn't prepared to fix. I would have preferred to sell it privately as the car was immaculate both inside and out but due to the problems I didn't want the car to come back to me with people complaining

Really depends on where I can get the most money & what benefits me most in a deal for a new car

Sometimes part x, sometimes, private & sometimes 'we buy any car' type buyers

I part exchanged my last one as advertised on here and got some comedy offers that were worse than the dealer px value. :) Tried to help my fellow ASN members but clearly people want something for nothing.

eBay or trade ins normally where ever I can get the car I want or the price I won't, did do a we buy any car once !

We have a few internet "systems". You can use forums for free advertising. Or there are the big car sites. Our main engine is carsales.com.au This has huge coverage. If you are looking, this is where you go. Adds start at $60 and go up. Easy to do, easy to manage. You just have to be realistic and confident. If you've set the price right you normally only need that one person to come and take a spin. Whats we buy any car? Are these privateers looking to do a car up and sell on? Or a larger business?

It's basically a rip off bit of your in a hurry to get rid of your motor it's there

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone though cause they rip you off

You get a price online for your motor, age, mileage, condition, Set of keys etc and they say that's the price you will get

But when you turn up they go over the car with a fine tooth comb and note every scuff, mark, stone chip, kerb mark etc, then they have a set system where each type of Mark is worth a certain amount off your so called garuentted price, each sales man ( car buyer ) has to mark the car as strictly as they can as there wages ( like a bouns system ) are made from how accurate they look at the cars and score them so it's in there best interest to find every single little thing

Then you get a price after all this and if your not happy then you just walk away

I sold a car thro' http://www.trustedcarbuyers.com/

We negotiated the price over the phone. Dropped the car off at a sub-contracted (to trusted car buyers) garage.
Disclosed a kerbed wheel (wife not me lol) which they never reduced the price of. I had to ask the Dealer to look at the car to prove I was actually dropping one off! No admin fee's. Money is my bank account within 2 hours at no extra cost. Great price for the car too!

If your moving your car with this type of car buyer, you have to do your research IMHO

Have sold privately before, but it's a bit of a ball ache with test drives and dreamers .. also a pain with outstanding finance (do-able, just more admin). There tends to be a lack of private buyers for cars with a 20K + price, as that quite often involves finance which is easier for a dealer to look after.

I usually tend to trade in as it's less hassle, probably not the most cash efficient mind you.

Interesting. Had a look at the webuyanycar site. This is purely curiosity. We don't have anything like this here. How do these guys sell on the vehicles. Thats not clear from the site.
