Queit simple really, just want to know if the upgrade is vaule for money, any noticeable difference and is it required when looking to reach stage 2 on my 1.8 20v ko3s engine?

depends on how tight for cash you are.

If you're tight for cash only upgrade when/if you get a problem with your existing coil packs

If you don't mind spending a little cash then do it, but if you want to spend money elsewhere I would put it at the bottom of your to-do list.

I have replaced mine, no noticeable difference but my car is currently standard.

I replaced mine and got the bk7re plugs aswell, running 0.8mm plug gap, and it runs lovely. Its weird but the engine actually sounds throatier at low rpm, you get more induction growl, i have no idea how or why but it happened when i changed the coils lol.

have you noticed any actual improvement though?

I'm pretty sure Bill or someone did some dyno runs to show it didn't gain any power but it allows you to run a larger gap.

Its hard to say because i had epic missfiring under full load so i had coil packs that were past it in there anyway. So i cant say on that front.

I'm also curious about this. I'm thinking about it down the line, but my car still hasn't had the coil pack recall so I have that to use if one of mine acts up.

FWIW,there's been a long running debate in the 8P forum, and over on VAGOC about stock coil packs,RS4 packs, and even the hideously expensive Okada coilpacks, and whilst I don't know how this will translate to your cars, but those packs cost over £600,and deliver a few bhp at peak rpm.

Most of us took the view that if your own packs were finished, the latest TFSi packs were worthwhile, but the gains if any, were very small indeed.

They are no different to any other coil pack... They fail just like 20v ones do

Getting more power from using them is a myth and running bigger gaps just makes them fail sooner...

I run tfsi packs because I got them for a good price but I got misfires from gapping plugs at 0.85 so reduced it to 0.7mm and this works fine for the power I run

The placebo effect is from fitting new coil packs from having old ones...

There is a thread in the FAQs with tfsi coil pack info
