Right what a night mare i had yesterday. I have been waiting for r tech to map my
S3 for 6 weeks. I get there and its stright on the dyno, in 2wd it came out at 340bhp.
Witch i though was a lot of bhp. So it already has been mapped and the ecu is locked

.
And r tech cant asscess to ecu. They tried opening the ecu up and doing it that way. But still no luck. R tech was
99% sure it was an apr map.
So off i go to awsome gti in manchester.(apr). They dynoed the car in 4wd and it was 312bhp.
Plugged there lap top in and the ecu was locked and it was not an apr map either.
But there tool could flash the ecu and gain access.
So i had no other choice really but to get an apr map.
Its now running 370hp stage 2+ with switchable maps and anti theft mode.

The car is flying i am over the moon with how the car drives. But i need to get a clutch asap.
As its hanging out its *** lol. Slipping is not the word

Awesome stuff

Wow good horsepower, what was your torque figures like? Maybe set the emcs map to stock mode until you get a new clutch?

And in regards to clutches, they are around the £900 for anything decent, and around £350 inc vat to fit from a specialist. The single mass flywheel is stronger but you will feel the noise and vibration. At least you can launch it :D dual mass setup is great as well as long as you don't launch it.

Best to change the slave cylinder at the same time too its around £40-50 but if provided at time of clutch install there shouldn't really be any additional charge with labour.

What year S3 do you have? I have an apr map too and the tuner told me I couldn't get a switchable map on mine due to being a single layer ecu or somethin.. I personally think they are full of sh.t! Ta

Questions for Watts dude.. Just see what model he has, cause I was told I couldn't get the full package on mine.. Then i'll have some ammo to contact apr.. Half service, half price imo

I have got it booked in for a sachs clutch and loba single mass flywheel next week at tsr.
But i have been reading that ppl are having problems shifting at high rpm. I dont want this problem :). Whats your thoughts on a clutch?

If they locked due to a previous Remaps' try a dealer or some one with Autologic diagnostic tool that can apply an OEM software update, it will wipe the map from the ecu and revert back to standard, obvious will cost too

Can autologic reset flash counters or match ecu's to a car?

I've actually just had the loba saches combo with a single mass flywheel, no problem what so ever shifting at any rpm high or low, how ever it does sound like trash, pedal has a nice solid feel tho. Not much engine vibration in the cabin... But I'm still running stock engine mounts, with uprated ones I've been told the vibrations will come through to the cabin. Biggest issue for me is the thrashy sound on deceleration. It will either get better as in beds in or I'll just get used to it. I've done around 400 miles on it. Can make a video of it whilst cold and on idle if u want

Pretty good result in the end up mate! I think the APR maps are now generally considered the "best" for the 8P s3. Those figures are ace!
