Going to have to have a bit of a rant here..

Took my car in yesterday for first service/oil change. Didn't use my usual dealer as they didn't subscribe to the price match Audi scheme within their group this year. As ~£200 is quite a bit of a difference between the price match and the non- I hunted around and went to my next local dealer. I'd tried their sales crew before and didn't come away impressed as were pushy, arrogant and generally didn't listen to any questions, but hoped for better from the service dept.

Rang to book the service and was asked to supply the quote match evidence which I dually sent along by email. Time came to go for service - first error - no pre service call to check that 1. I was still coming and 2. that I was aware the service/showrooms were at different local addresses!!! Only found this out when I pulled into showroom car park and noted on the entrance door... Not a particuarly brilliant start, but continued onto service address..

Sat down, sorted all paperwork and then reminded the girl I was dealing with that I had supplied a price match quote and that it had been agreed previously. Checked her system and "oh no sir we don't have any record of this, I'll have to check with my manager" - who suprise suprise had no record either. Stated that I had supplied it 5 weeks prior so they should. No record of my phone call (they have a central "booking office" which serves about 3/4 dealerships I think, and he obv hadnt passed on the info. She stated that they'd take the car in, supply a courtesy car (at £15 admin charge - what a joke) and sort out a couple of bits and pieces I'd requested whilst awaiting me to resend the evidence, but no work would be started until then. (Full price for the oil change/service would be £372!!! - I stated I wasn't going to be paying that, and would arrange for resending the info as soon as I got to work).

Sent her the paperwork first thing once I got to my desk including the time/date of the booking phone call/call centre person, and was told "forwarded to manager, awaiting authorisation, will keep you updated". Heard nothing for the next 5 hours (by now car had been there since 8am, now about 2.30), so sent a quick chaser email to ask if they'd proceeded - response of "oh no authorisation yet, sorting other things however in meantime"

Finally an hour and a half later (by now ~4pm), received a call saying yes will all go ahead at agreed price.. 8 hours to authorise what should have been sorted weeks before - beyond belief. And they hadn't finished yet...

I suspect that 1. They also washed the car when I specifically asked them not to do so (had it detailed a week or so back, so don't trust a sponge monkey not to ruin the paintwork)
2. They have broken the MMI screen mechanism in that it now doesn't deploy either on starting or when pressing the button. The ESP button also is intermittent in working. Suspect that they were overzealous with some soundproofing (had a dash rattle), and has probably jammed the mechanism...

All in all... NOT VERY IMPRESSED!! Will be calling dealer tomorrow to complain, then taking it back to my usual one for repairs...

RANT OVER:(

Oh dear that's terrible. I have heard of dealers using spray foam under the dashboard, I cant believe they would do this but I would check all the same.
Hope you get everything all working. Perhaps should have walked away when they had no record of your agreement.

Perhaps you need to name and shame?

Steve

Makes my day seem not quite so bad... you have my sympathies mate. On the repaired dash rattle/inoperative MMI, I'd be getting your regular dealer to take a look behind the dash ASAP. I read some awful account once of a Merc dealer 'fixing' a dash rattle by spraying a load of that expanding foam stuff up behind the dash. I'm not saying this has happened to yours, I sincerely hope it hasn't... but I'd definitely be checking.

I'll see what they say first when I complain.. probably something along the lines off.. bring it back down to us to see it. Tempted to take a small video of me attempting to deploy it and send it to their manager if I can get a name in case they say " oh I'm sure its not that bad"...
Thing is not sure I should trust them to fix it, and instinct is to go back to regular dealer...

Good plan, make sure it's date/time stamped too.

Maybe a call to Audi UK???

Which service was it by the way? Seems expensive!

Ah well, hope you get it sorted out dude! Been round a few dealers recently and they're all a bit meh. The Sytner owned ones are particularly sh*t.

It was first oil change and first inspection service. which is basically an interim service and a major service at the same time. Prices for these on the audi website are £159 and £309 respectively, so ~£450 ish.. They quoted £372 for it, and with price match I got that down to £157 ish (+ 15 for courtesy car - admin charge my a**e.. never had to pay for an audi courtesy car).. so worth the price match...

Dreading service day for me, can't use my independent guy who has always looked after me. Audi has never looked after me, every single time I get a service it's a headache and always ends up in a kick off, the last time I just gave up!

Just went down to take a video of the offending article with time/date stamp.. and suprisingly its working ok now:think:... I'd been trying to get the thing to deploy for a 40 min drive on the way home... which it never did.. very dubious... will keep a very close eye on it tomorrow

Not good to hear this. I have just bought my A3 company car (having been made redundant, and the car is less than a year old), and Camberley seems to be my local dealer. Any recommendations for dealers/servicing in the NE Hants region?

Reading are my local, and whilst the sales side won;t budge in terms of deals, the service side isn't too bad..

Not too bothered at this stage about the sales side at the moment, but servicing.................

Camberley Audi are my local dealer! When my turn comes, I hope my experience is better. They serviced my 8P for the 4 years I owned it and I had no complaints. However, around the time I bought my 8V the business was taken over by Lookers so there may have been consequences for their standards. I hope not, but we'll see.

Personally would stay clear of any franchise owned by Lookers.....explains a lot of the OP's issues if that's right.

That level of service is expected at a Ford or Vauxhall dealer but doesn't cut the mustard if its Audi dealerships they are now moving in to.

I took out a service plan when I bought the car, so I guess I am committed to letting them carry out the work unless I want to lose the monthly amounts I have paid so far by having it serviced elsewhere. If I'm not happy I'll take it up with them - I'm used to asserting my consumer rights as it seems necessary more and more often these days. I'll report back in August!

If its an Audi service plan then you can use it any dealership.

Mine should have been £320, non Audi dealer using Audi parts £180, I wouldn't give Audi the option to price match.
If they want to rip you off why give them a option to price match? It just proves they can do it at a realistic price when they have to........

Disgraceful! - Always the case, you have a quote or price mqtch, but the garage never carries out the work according to it................

In this case they should have been charged an admin fee for the extra hassle becuase of their incompetence.

Complain to Audi UK!

I am browsing this section to get some views on the new shape A3 As I think this might suit my needs when I finally retire the B6 and am reading this with interest as Camberley Audi are my local dealer and I have to agree on the crap service, I have been over countless times to pick parts up which are wrong and theyvalsondid a recall, sorry vehicle enhancement on my B6 followed by the complimentary vehicle report to be told I needed two new tyres which of course they sold,I asked the guy which ones needed changing to which he stuttered "rears" with this a big grin came across my face, I took the guy outside to show him the White paste stuff still fresh on my rims from having new tyres fitted a day previous.
Needless to say I would not let Camberley Audi near my bicycle let alone a nice new A3.

Let's hope Audi Camberley are reading the forum....'cause if you are you've just lost a load of customers for new car sales and service
What goes around comes around:angrymod:

What do you have to do to get audi to price match? Can you get a quote off any local garage that uses audi approved parts?

It's crazy with these Audi dealers giving such bad service.......

My local dealers Stockport & Manchester Audi are hopeless, now i travel 60+ miles to Stafford Audi, safe to say they do seem to look after you there.

You have to supply an email or written quote from an independent/specialist garage (vat registered)within15 miles of the dealership which states it uses audi genuine parts/service schedule. Check the dealership does partake in the scheme though as not all do so.

It's odd how dramatically different dealerships can perform e.g. Leicester Audi are s**** but Nottingham Audi are fantastic.

Doesn't sound that bad to be fair - Sure they didn't have a record of your price match but it sounds like they sorted it out. I always take my car in and then just wait for the call - sometimes it's around lunch, sometimes the late afternoon. So long as it's before I leave work I couldn't care. If they have broken something then it's probably a rare accident and I'm sure they will put it right. I've had things go wrong at dealerships, just as they do in any line of work, and it's been sorted asap.

I know I personally have never had bad service from Basingstoke Audi, just a shame I have to put in the extra milliage.

Well the screen seems to be behaving itself after the initial journey to work this morning, but will keep an eye on it. Still dubious as it refused to work for the journey home last night, and now seems to work normally... hmmm

Its little things I think which make for a good experience with a dealer.. good communication, quick responses, going the extra mile. Its amusing they all seem to ask " can you mention extremely satisified to any audi survey call".. a bit presumptive I think !

Perhaps your screen has confused MMI syndrome. Either a reset or leaving the car locked for a while ( another form of reset ) seem to cure the problem. See reports from others on the forum. Would like to know what causes the screen to get confused, seems like a boot up failure.

I concur with Stockport. Manchester seems better so far. If they are just as bad I will end up going Huddersfield

Now you see how different an individuals perception can be? I wouldn't even walk through Nottingham's door. Never ever buy another car off them, I bought two new cars off them.
