Hi, my son has a 2004 v6 A3 and we have a 2010 sport back tdi, there is a rumour that removal of the rear light and shorting out some of t he wires will unlock the car. Can someone send me a PM if there is any truth in this please.
Alex

What exactly do you mean by "unlock" the car? has the battery died and the car is completly locked due to lack of power or ??

Lol if that was true every A3 in the country would be missing.

Depends if you mean number plate or actual rear lenses, as the latter isn't easy, given the bolt they're held in with, but that's news to me aswell.

Thanks Nigel. I was talking about a possible theft threat.

I fully get what you mean i.e. connect to bare metal and also into light feed to feed the power back through the car but it would still require unlocked and also if you can get the lights off as @Ash187 just stated are inside the car in the first place then you wouldnt have to feed the power back through them. Hope this clears it up a tad, think someone is definately pulling your leg mate.

Probably, my son's friend has had what looks like screwdriver/lever marks around the light cluster. Its as if someone was trying to break the light to gain access to the wiring,

Just sounds like someone trying to steal his lights i suppose, the entry in the car from the lights is at best 30mm hole when the screw from the lights go through so he should be safe if in the very unfortunate and unlikely event they can get his lights off me! Some people these days are shocking wanting to steal rear lights from a car!!
