Main thing is that it's running and safe! You've gained 50bhp more which is a lot but was it worth the money in the end do you think? Or is there even more fine tuning to get her running to that 600bhp mark safely and consistently?
Andy's view was that this being the first TFSi to run the Syvecs ECU in combination with a turbo this size, the best thing was to set it up to be able to run more, but to then run it conservatively.
That means there is the potential for a lot more(and it's worth pointing out that whilst the turbo will flow enough for 750bhp,that doesn't mean it's either good or safe to actually do that).
It's also been set up to run TC via the Syvecs, which runs much quicker and less intrusively than VAG's form of TC,but works better with the engine as it is.....he said they'd managed to get the TC coming in on 3rd gear on a dry road, also taking into account the way the ECU manages the Haldex.
The really big gains are:
OK...."only" 60bhp more, but no more hesitation,as with the old turbo and Revo software.
100 ft/lbs more torque, and no huge drop off towards peak rpm.
Fully integrated TC and diff control.
6 stage ALS.....Andy's description of the lag to me actually sounded awful at first, but once he'd described the turbo coming in at 4000rpm,I realised it's actually no worse than the outgoing 3076,but the ALS will reduce that.
Point is,it runs from 4000 rpm right out to the revised rpm limit of 7500rpm without tailing off.
