2.0T FSI Forged Engine Build Has Started, Big Turbo Build.

That's good then, looks like a winning combination :)

There are a few solutions to the LP fuel end of the system, from RS3/TTRS pumps,to auxiliary boost triggered pumps like mine, and they all seem to work.
The auxiliary ones are a less elegant solution but work without any mucking around.

Goes to show that 155bar of fuel pressure isn't always required to do the figures

The yanks are pulling me to bits over this manifold, no flow, bad collector, etc etc, I thought it was quite good

What's your opinions chaps?

Looked OK to me.....but what do I know!

Well once the lads had stopped laughing and the arguments had finished, we got down to business and they give me some good info on why the current manifold is no good (£800 down the swanny)

This is the result and I have just ordered it from the states. Everything you see in the picture minus the wastegate which I already have.

I must say it's going to look a lot better and will mean I don't have to make any adjustments to my headlights.

Long at short of it is the original exhaust builder won't help me, even though I was relying on his experience to do it right for me.
But that's another story and I don't have a leg to stand on either.

So moving forward, it should arrive in 2 weeks. Then ricks getting the car at the end of the month. A little behind schedule but near completion never the less.

nice bud very nice, i did wonder about your current mani turbo location.

is this california jay mani?

what power you hoping for and i'm sure i've missed it what tubby?

you are not helping my thoughts though :D

Well I'm sorry that it turned out that way.
Throwing money away is always a shame but it has to be said the new one looks good.

I wish you the best for installing it and getting it running.

Thanks mate, I suppose something good needs to come out of something bad. It was Shawn @ ARDesigns that's made and tested it and the price is outstanding. Even comes with the Tial .63 stainless steel A/R housing.

I'm running a gtx3076r and hoping for 500 bhp ish. I'd settle at 480 but really want to break the 500 mark. That's been my target from the start and my build has pretty much followed this figure. So fingers crossed.

I definitely think you should do it aswell

Cheers chaps, it's never nice loosing on something. Especially when it was so far away from what we wanted. But I suppose its a lesson learned. I guess one advantage is I have a nice ornament and and £800 screamer pipe for the future

bit of a bummer on that manifold craig but these things are sent to test us, but that replacement one really looks the business.
A wise old mechanic once told me that " when in search of mechanical perfection and performance , its not how much you spend , but it's what you spend it on and how you use it ".
i think you are doing just right craig on this project and the end results will be top notch.

Nice, that manifold was originally design for VAST in Michigan by Shawn and was used on Mikes car to run 13.2@107 back in 2007.

I'm pretty sure that 500bhp is attainable,as my "old" GTX3076 was turning out that sort of power,on an ATP exhaust manifold, which would be nowhere near as efficient as your new manifold will be.

did vizi use this mani on his BT build or was that T3 flanged?

Oh I see, its a very well made piece of kit. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it.
I'm hoping to destroy the likes of 13 seconds this time round. I'll be very disappointed if we don't. Especially after all this graft.

If we can do 13.4 on a k04 @ 101, I'm sure we're gone see some excellent figures this year.

I'm assuming the v band will help considerably with flow

I am pretty sure the same person did Vizi's, but he definitely doesn't have a V-band downpipe.

I sure hope so too! We were able to run a 12.8 on a stock engine 2.0T with a the TD05H-20G, pump gas, and only 20psi.

I'm sure we can mate, michelin pilot super sports, launch control and flat shift should hopefully see us in the 11s

That's what I like to hear

It really should do.

As far as I know,Stattlers are getting in the region of 600bhp on a GTX3076,but I may be wrong on the turbo sizing.

The reason i went for the M-Spec GTX3582 on mine was it's pretty much the biggest thing I can get in there, and I won't be tempted to look for more.

We were originally going for a 35, but I wanted something that had a quicker spool and less lag. Even though we can Rev to 8000 rpm now, 500 rpm does a lot. But I still wanted it to be aggressive.
Until someone designs a set of lifters that are good for 9000 rpm I thing the 35 will be out of the question for me.
I think with the second set of injectors we will break the 600bhp mark

Well this is the closest it's been to a driveable car in a long time lol!

You can see the issue with the turbo, I'm glad we decided to go to Shawn and do it right

Thats all coming together really well.

You may get pretty close to 600bhp even without a second set of injectors, with WMI and timing but I don't know how near.

Owen Dev's think that with the full set of M-Spec goodies on the 3582,that it should be pretty close to my current 3076 on spool etc,but we'll see soon enough.

i did wonder why no merge collector, but assumed your guys had an inkling what they were doing so said nowt

Turns out he didn't have a clue, so I went to the states for new supplier. I've lost £800 but no point crying about it. Zorstech don't have a f**king clue.

I'm also going to make that as public as physically possible.

But we move on and its near completion pending the mani, downpour and turbine housing.

There's a guy on vag talk on Facebook who recons the rs4 injectors max out at 480bhp with a TSR map.
Although I've heard others pushing more, including yourself.
So I'm quite interested to see what we actually get.
I'm very interested in how yours performs with the 35.
I hope we break 500bhp. I'll be a very happy man. That's been my target all along

The figure most often quoted is around 550bhp at standard rail pressure.

We're going to see what mine can do but the Syvecs is also able to support higher rail pressures.

Well that's what I thought aswell. I've heard they're good for 600.

What annoys me about certain people in the tuning industry is, because their car hasn't done it, nobody else's can. But IMO its down to the mad scientist who's making it all work, the tuner.

I'm confident we've got this in the bag. And whatever rick says needs doing, will be done.
I'm not expecting it happen on the first visit either as I'm a realist. These things take time to perfect, not to mention minor floors in my build which may need correcting.

I just wish people would approach it with an open mind.
Not everybody's build is the same :)

Just read from start to finish, and what a good read so far (minus the wasted cash on the manifold), great work.

Will be interesting to see what this ends up making once all done and dusted.

Absolutely right.

There is a lot of this business of "because I haven't done it,it can't be done".

You've used all of the right parts, and you have a well recognised engine tuner on hand as well.

There are usually at least 3 different ways of doing something,or so I've learned over the years.

Exactly. Although a lot can be achieved in different ways.

Hopefully we will have a winning combination

Well I've put the front end back together, pending the arrival of the new manifold.

Thought the front end was missing something so stripped the headlights and blacked the chrome surrounds. I think it's finished it off subtly.

Cheers chaps, thanks for the positivity, looks like we're nearly out of the woods.
I'm going to post a few more pics this afternoon, as it hasn't really been as straight forward as it looks. Once again due to my choice of wastegate etc, intake pipe and what not. I'll explain more this afternoon.

Think we've got around 3 more parts to source and we're finished.

But!! Anyone thinking of this conversion on their B7, im pleased to say you can come directly to me for a full kit that will be available very soon. Exciting times on the R&D side :)
