Well I have returned to the Audi camp after a brief visit back in 2012 when I had a 95,000 mile 54 plate 2.0TFSI Quattro.
The Quattro didn't live upto expectations, I wasn't used to having a car with such high mileage and a niggling fault wouldn't go away, so I got shot.

I return again stepping up the ladder a few runs into a 2012 Black Edition with 23,000 miles on the clock..
So far, so good and I had a really nice weekend getting to know the car.
This is much more like the Audi experience I was expecting back in 2012.

A few pics from the dealer the week before collection.

I will post up more once I have given it a full detail (and painted those rusty brake calipers)
I only managed to clay, wax and seal the drivers side, boot and rear end yesterday. The amount of muck/tar that came off the bootlid was shocking.

And yes that rear tyre was flat prior to the test drive.

1.8 TFSI?

Very nice, however you may need to keep an eye on the oil level!

In for calipers pics, what colour?

I will be keeping it subtle and whatever I have in the cupboard. So either black, silver or gunmetal.
My other motor carries off bling bling brembos better.

Fog Lights now changed to White's thanks to T8ups
VCDS Set to :
Dial Sweep
Fog's On with Turn Signal/Slow Speed Steering Angle
Emergency Brake Lighting
Lap Timer tuned on, then off again (pointless, especially as Oil Temp doesn't seem to read)

I did notice you can change the 'release' mechanism to include throttle and Normal/High/Low release for the EPB. I may try this, but will see how I get on with this new fangled way of parking/pulling away.

I want to get needle sweep & fogs on with turn signal activated on my Avant. Just need to find someone in Kent to do it.

Spent yesterday with all 4 wheels off the car.
  • Wheels cleaned Front & Back and all Tar spots and old wheel weight stickiness removed. Wheels are made by 'Ronal' which was a nice surprise. I think they made RS Ford wheels years ago.
  • Rusty Caliper & Pads removed (I think the previous owner may of used 'Acid' based wheel cleaners which I always avoid).
  • Caliper Brackets freshened up with a fresh coat of Gloss Black
  • Calipers refitet loose, without pads to a Caliper bracket draped in Newspaper to mask, Calipers also painted Gloss Black
  • Disk bells masked and re-painted. I chose Subaru Urban Grey Metallic as that was what I had in the garage cupboard. Turns out to be quite a close match to the BE Gunmetal alloys.
  • New Wheel Nut covers fitted (Ebay for £10), as the previous ones were damaged/contaminated by whatever wheel cleaning products had previously been used.

And a quick picture of it outside home. Wheels were clean but little else :

Done a good job mate and looks good. They use 'Ronal' on the old Escort mk 2, series 1 turbos etc

Cheers and knew I'd seen Ronal somewhere. It would of been on my Series 1 RS Turbo 17 years ago !!!!

Brings back memories, 22 years ago when i had mine!! :icon thumright:

Thease are the ones I purchased, they just seem a bit too big and would wrap over the top of the caliper too much, rather then be just on the side face : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271615392526?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Is that for 85mm? as i'm looking for these for mine. ;)

I plumped straight for the smaller one and yes, it did seem too tall.
It could do with being about 2/3rd's that size and hence a bit more subtle too.
