i can honestly say Top Gear has finally lost the plot, not one car reviewed, an absolute waste of time, get these three muppets off our screens and stick Chris Harris on in place. Their egos have gone mad.....

Seriously what was the point in that?

lol. I have thought the same since the 'Sweeney' car chase episode a few years back. Latest series takes it to another level.
Really has become more light entertainment than a car show.

BTW, really like the Chris Harris reviews

You must've read my mind, 'cos this is exactly what I just said to my son after watching this garbage.....what an absolute waste of our licence fee!!

I think its hilarious ....but agree not much to do with cars these days

Totally agree, utter garbage. We should start a petiton to get Chris Harris his own show!

If you have not been to his YouTube channel, Chris Harris on cars is amazing and what tv is crying out for at the moment. Someone who is generally in to cars and doesn't just **** about to fulfil their egos.

Had my bubble burst about Chris Harris the other day. I worship him but met someone that's done a fair amount of work for him and apparently he isn't the nicest bloke on the planet. "volatile" was the word used to describe him :(

I didn't watch it, only the end(ish), is it really that bad now?

They remind me of last of the summer wine.

what's this got to do with the 8V?
They didn't do a test drive of the 8v, they didn't do a lap with the stig in the 8v and I guess they didn't do a test of how well an 8v pulls a caravan? Just guessing as I didn't watch it

They haven't done a car review on Top Gear for years. Blasting round an airfield in the latest Ferrari or McLaren isn't a car review.
It's just a laddish entertainment show with a connection to cars. It's sold all over the world and Clarkson is a millionaire, so it must be successful.
It probably sits just above Benidorm in the quality stakes. It's a waste of time - but then you are relaxing while watching it (or on second thoughts maybe getting a bit irritated!!)

^^^ Benidorm is the highlight of my weekly TV viewing ;)

Must agree with the rest, I fell asleep twice and didn't even bother to rewind and watch what I had missed!!!

Yeah I didn't really rate the episode highly either. They need to review more cars, the news barely touched on any cars either. Also, to top it off Britain got beaten by the Aussies :p Was a good lap though!

I'd have to agree, Top Gear is classed more as a Lads 'Entertainment' Show with an Element of Motoring, rather than a Traditional Car Reviewing Programme.

I thought tonights Episode was really funny to be honest & I dont mind when they have stupid Tasks to do............I'd just prefer that they perhaps only took up 10-15minutes of the Show, on that sort of thing!
The Star in the 'Reasonably Priced Car' is also a good slot to the Format.............especially when they have F1 Drivers on!

Personally, I like them Reviewing all the Latest Supercars & putting them through their Paces, in most of the Episodes............even if the Majority of us will never be able to afford them!
If they Added a Slot to do with a Classic Car, 4x4's & a couple of more nominally Priced New semi-sporty Cars each week, that would Improve the Programme in my book!
............as long as they never bother with real boring basic Cars or People Carriers!!

The Show is still hands down more Fun & Entertaining than Fifth Gear, as their Reviews of Cars barely last 5minutes, so you dont get any real idea of the Car itself & you have to put up with that squinty eyed Needall idiot, that drives them all badly............Jason Plato is the only thing good on there!

I haven't seen tonight's episode, so I cannot comment. What I have noticed about top gear over the years is that they're running out of productive challenges. For example, when they raced the Nissan GT-R against the bullet train, when they raced the Ferrari 612 against public transport to verbiér, and when they drive around America in an SLS, 458 Italia and the corvette ZR1, the programs were informative yet still entertaining, but I could see they were running out of things to do that weren't ridiculous. The Burma special where they were all in lorries was very entertaining and funny, but it had nothing to do with what Top Gear is actually about.
I love top gear and will always watch repeats on Dave and new episode's, but if I want to watch real informative televised motoring journalism, that review the types of cars that a majority of the population buy, then I watch Fifth Gear.

I agree that TopGear is useless when it comes to reviews, they are very biased towards Audi's.

For entertainment purposes, it's hilarious, but nowhere near a serious review show. Disagreed with their verdict of the Lambo, what a gorgeous car. Their excuse was it's owned by Audi so what do you expect, it's boring. Whatever! It does seem to be getting less funny and more immature though, I thought the latest special (can't remember what the name was) wasn't as good as the other specials.

I did laugh at last nights one, especially the cannon 'delivery' system, but it did seem rather stupid half the time.

Did anyone notice on the Aussies lap (oh god I forgot his name that shows I don't watch F1 much) he had his mirrors folded in, then on the next turn they were out, then in again? TV rubbish..

It's humorous entertainment and has me laughing. I did enjoy the first of the latest series. But it's only loosely car based these days.
Perhaps we should all put pen to paper and write to the beeb?

I'm actually going to the first Top Gear Live on Friday, a Christmas present. I'm quite looking forward to it, although it's quite a trek to Liverpool.

Totally agree, it is tosh.
Problem is I still watch it just in case.........some of their races across Europe were very good viewing.

I thought the program was a work of comic genius, less so a program reviewing cars. But that's Top gear for you, if you don't like there is always a button on your remote you can press to switch channels....

correct, but a 'car' program would be nice. I can get entertainment from countless other channels.

So the question is do I watch next week in the hope that Sunday's was just a blip or risk loosing another hour to the same old stuff.

I record them and watch most of it a x6 speed or faster, stopping when something remotely resembling a car show appears :D

As others have said, it seems to be 3 idiots wasting a hell of a lot of money and not liking anything but BMW's and supercars.
It's had its day in my opinion......

I would imagine that the Top Gear brand generates far more income than what it costs to create. That being said, it is getting a tad silly.

I enjoy top gear and it is an entertainment show, if u want car reviews either watch YouTube chris Harris or 5th gear

to be fair it does review cars, you just normally need about 6 or 7 0's on your bank statement.

its mainly aimed at been an entertainment show though which it does do to some extent aswell plus you certainly can't knock Ricardo's lap time either.

I wouldn't say no to there job I know that much.

I can't believe that in this day and age people are STILL watching this Garbage.
It was pants 10 years plus ago when I stopped watching.

Saying that, if I was getting paid circa £14m a year (or however long Clarkson's Contract is), I would spend it just messing about and driving fantastic motors that the majority of us will never have the opportunity to breathe on, let alone drive, let alone own.

Top Gear is about the only Show that keeps the BBC going these days!

What makes it Refreshing, is the way the 3 of them are non 'PC' about everything, when the BBC itself, is such a Leftwing Communist Establishment!

I think that the Guys at the Top would love to Axe the Show, but cant due to it bringing in the Viewing Figures & Revenue!

3 pompous p r I cks !!!

Can believe the Falklands program had s production crew of 30 WTF !??So this is where our licence fee goes ??

Well somebody likes it.

Pretty sure those Viewing Figures are just for the UK "Top Gear" is the most watched "entertainment" show in the Entire world, saw a link to the stats once but can't for life of me recall where its was something crazy like 200/300 Million viewers for each episode !!!! I agree with previous posters, definately pants in parts and getting silly and distracted from cars, but still 1 hell of a popular Programme

In case anybody wants to waste an hour of their life, tonights Top Gear features:

Richard Hammond getting winched up a dam in a LR SI
BMW M4
BMW i8
Mercedes AMG-GT

Alternatively, there's the "Off" button, or "Call the Midwife" on the other side :p

BMW M4 pants
BMW i8 green pants

:p

It'll be interesting what clarkson thinks to the i8 - anything green to him is bad, and generally is actually bad. I don't like BMW's as you can tell but the i8 is pretty interesting.

100k though!

Here's Chris Harris with the AMG-GT - which will no doubt, contrast with James May's review tonight: ;)
