Well it's finally here; the new car arrived today and the A4 is gone.

It's been good chatting with you guys on the B8 forum and I hope everything goes well for those suffering with the oil consumption issue. I'll keep tabs on your progress and pitch in where I can.

I'm not totally gone though because you'll find me on the classic Audi pages and general chats...so there's no getting rid of me that easy!!!

I haven't seen it myself properly yet. They dropped it off at the house lunchtime and took mine away.

I'll take some pics when I get a chance.

I'll certainly remain on this forum. I'm a member of a few forums, but Audi-sport.net is by far the best!

I haven't quite given up on Audi, but I need to see if the Merc is more reliable!

Any pics of the Merc?

It's not a good week for me. I reversed into a post in the convertible on Tuesday and today my neck and back is playing up to the point I can't even sit comfortably. So I only had the opportunity to sit in the back of the Merc while my wife drove us around tonight

We stopped at the petrol station and it's already dirty due to the road salt. So I'll take some take it as you see it photos, then once I've had a chance to wash it, I'll post some more.

By the way, I have a pair of genuine Audi roof bars to sell. I'll get them cleaned up and on the site.

No thanks. They will need too much oil! Thanks for your thread. I'm sure it's helped some of us. Nevertheless I think the TFSI engine is great now fixed!! Just need Audi to pay £5500 to make it sweet. Enjoy ur new motor!

Quick follow up! Don't expect too much from Merc! My experience out of all the Germans is that BMW have the best reliability, best looking definately Audi! and Mercedes are ok but boring and don't use oil. Clear as German mud then. Get a Nissan GT-R for fun!!!

I would have gone for the A6 if it wasnt for all the problems I had on my previous A4's. I don't like BMW's so it was a Mercedes.

Took these on my way out to find some horse tranquilizers for my neck.

The only things I've discovered so far is its got some sort of drive assist system which I think reads road signs then advises you on the road speed and it measures your fatigue whilst driving then gives you warnings . Don't know how it works because I haven't driven it yet. It's also got Parktronic.

Haha I was thinking that. I'll probably deactivate them!

...In fact it's probably worse than the wife. The way she was driving it last night, even in eco mode, anybody would think we were in the RAC rally!

My experience out of all the Germans is that BMW have the best reliability, ...

Interestingly I took my son to football today and whilst standing on the sideline, I wasn't listening to the conversation, but heard parts of it. One of they guyd bought a second hand 3 series still within warranty. It's been in the garage for the past two weeks having work completed.

Not sure what it was, but he asked the garage how much it would cost to repair if it wasn't covered. He was advised it would be £5,500.

He hasn't had the car long and is already considering extending the warranty.

Thanks Crazyfool. Where are you based by the way as I guess these would be a collection only item?

Are the roof bars the ones that clip onto the roof rails?

I live in the Reading area.

I make trips to our Tewkesbury office on occasions, but that's going to be too far for you. I also sometimes visit our Birmingham office, but that's normally by train. Unfortunately I haven't had any reason to go any further north at present unless it's on holiday.

The bars didn't come with a box, not that I would have kept it anyway, but I can see how much it is to package them up for delivery.

Yes please, if you can check the price for delivery as that would be my only option. I will then decide what to do from there.
Any idea what price you are looking to achieve from the rails?

Apologies I'm totally snowed under with work, so haven't had a chance to check. I gave them a quick wash on the weekend and took some photos. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks Crazy fool that would be great.
If you could PM me your postcode, I've packaged them up and weighed them, so I just need to work out how much the delivery will cost with Parcel Force.

Cheers

You'll see there are a few marks on the tops of the bars and the ridge has small pulls in places from the T-bar system on my bike carriers, but overall there is no major damage and you can only see this at close range anyway. The rubber srips can be inserted into the slots and the key is included.

How does £120 all in sound, incl. P&P?

That's fine. Don't feel pressured into buying them. If they are no good, I'll post them on the sales page.

I really wanted around £100 for the bars, so I'm willing to go down to £100 all in. Postage alone is £15+ so I'll get just under what I was looking for.

Any good for you?

They are for B8 A4 avant, 2008 model onwards aren't they. I just assumed that based on your signature!

Yes. I don't think there was too much of a difference between the 2008 and 2009 model. Mainly the rear lights on the S-Line.

Hi let meet know if you still want the roof bars and I'll finish packaging them up. Cheers.

Sorry for the delay, yes I will have them off you at £100 all in. Will get back to you regarding payment & delivery address in next couple of days if that's ok? as I am away with work at the moment.
