I am just about to place my order for my new S3 but I have a couple of questions about the panoramic roof and some others about other options.

My spec is:

S-tronic 3 door.
Sepang Blue (Please let me know of any problems with this colour other than the fact everyone seems to be ordering it)
Tech Pack
Comfort Pack with ACC
Privacy Glass
B&O
Mag Ride (Still time to change depending on your feedback)
Pan Roof (as above)
Phone Prep
Electric folding mirrors
Reversing Camera
LED Lights upgrade
Mono pur
Sports Seats

1. Is the Pan roof worth it at £950? My current S3 has no sunroof at all.
2. Can you adjust how much light comes through on a sunny day?
3. How much does the Pan roof weigh or what is the difference in weight between a car with it and one without it?
4. Audi Mag ride... Is it worth it at £950? Yes or No?
5. Is there any option you wish you had but didn't spec and now regret and if so what?
6. What is the difference between the Sat Navs on offer. SD card based etc??

Sorry for the barrage of questions. Am I missing anything?

Looking forward to your replies. If it helps, I do a lot of driving 20,000 - 25,000 miles per year, I like a spirited drive :) and I am coming from a Stage 2+ S3 8P3 S-tronic (368 bhp).

I have the pano roof. It has a blind which works well and there's not too much noise when it's open and travelling at speed.

It creaks sometimes (rubber seals) which is annoying.

Note though that it's not that much bigger than a normal sunroof when open.

Worth the money if you have it!

Not got Mag Ride. Most posts I read said it was not worth the dosh! I'm happy with the ride quality as is and do not miss the adaptive suspension I had on my S4.

Thanks for your reply. The creaking rubber seals sound very annoying indeed. How long have you had the car and when did the creaking start. Have you told the dealer about it?

I have the pan roof in my S3 and have had absolutely no issues with it at all, not a murmur or hint of a creak (my S3 is now 9 months old - March 2014 - and has covered 7k miles). I'll admit I'm not a great fan of sun roofs (my wife wanted it!) but have to say in the S3, I've used it a great deal more than I ever thought I would do, and regard it as money well spent. Of course, it's only really useful in the summer (LOL), but even on wintry days it's nice having it on tilt to let some fresh air in the car. Bit noisy with the blind pulled back, but with the blind pulled across noise levels are perfectly acceptable.

So for me I'd recommend it!

Mag Ride - I agree with the above, unnecessary, the ride is perfectly good for the road
B&O - I don't have it, but many on here have complained about it creaking or similar. Many rate the Audi Sound System in preference (I don't have that either, finding the standard system adequate, but then I don't use the music system much)
Sports Seats - all these are are the standard seats with extra width bolsters on the side IMO. I'm not convinced they are worth the outlay. I find the standard seats with electric lumbar support (a must have) perfectly adequate. Maybe becuase I had an Evo before the S3 with Recaro's, I didn't want the "jammed in" feeling again. But standard seats with Lumabr support (£150 option) are really good
High Beam Assist. Do consider. I absolutely love it, esp for driving country lanes at night. Well worth the £150!

I went for the middle Sat Nav (the one above SD card based and below the full Wi-Fi experience). Love it, does a cracking job. I'd def have it again.

Hope that helps

Hello and welcome aboard !! Your spec is similar to what I've ordered see my sig but only shows up on full site rather than on a moby. Only thing I'd add is the Interior light pack - without it I don't think you even get a light in the glove box which is pretty stingy!

I've gone mag ride although after reading up on it think of it as more of a comfort option rather than removing all give around corners. Also it's standard on the saloon so I didn't want to miss out !

It's intermittent and only seems to occur after rain. I've had the car since March and done 8000 miles and this is the only issue. I will mention it at Service but it's not bad enough to make a special trip. I have the B&O and Nav High and SS seats too. Specced all without considering alternatives so can't comment on whether they are value for money although I am not using the 4g at the moment. I would recommend the int light pack and and that's good value.

I'd add that the sunroof makes it a more light and airy car.especially in the s line with the darker headlining. I just leave the blind pulled back to let in some light. Its expensive for what it is though.

Took the words out of my mouth. I think Lumbar support and High beam assist are the best value for money - I love them both. (But wondered if your LED lights include High beam assist - damn well should do for the money!!)

Thanks for the feedback so far. I need to call a knowledgeable dealership about what exactly is included in these Tech and Comfort Packs and whether I still need to upgrade Sat Nav, Interior Lights and High Beam. I did call them before but received conflicting information hence my post.

Would you spec it again?

Does anyone know the weight of the Panoramic Roof or know how I can find out?

Thanks for this... Just what I was looking for.

I have asked Coventry Audi if I can change my spec and have asked for quotes with and without Pan roof as I think not having it means I have to spec Interior Light pack separately.

The jury is still out on the Mag Ride too... Most seem to be happy without it but it would be good to hear from someone who has it and their thoughts on it compared to without.

Would you spec it again?

Short answer, yes I would.

My last two A4s (both S lines Avants) which I bought used didn't have sunroofs and to be honest I didn't miss it, perhaps as the cabin is a bit more airy. However I test drove an A4 Allroad last year which had the pan sunroof and it made me rethink the A4 spec I wanted. New A4 didn't get ordered for various reasons so when I down sized to A3 it made sense to keep it in the spec. A friend with his A3 Sport has the light grey headlining and I think I could have lived with this without a sunroof if it was an option on the S line.

We also have a 3 door A1 which also has the dark headlining and is a bit claustrophobic, again bought used but if we replace it we would get a sunroof.

I initially spec'd mag ride but got talked out of it by the dealer. Main reason was that there were no A3s available to try it out on and I then test drove a standard S line car and it seemed fine. I liked the idea of making it softer if the standard suspension was too hard (and the link with Drive Select), however its fine.

I spec'd the sunroof and silver headliner. It really gives a nice light airy feel in the cabin and I'd spec them both again. I think the word "Panoramic" is what made me feel a bit disappointed, there's no panorama, just a glass rectangle :) If you expect a bog standard sun roof then you won't be disappointed.

Silver headlining not available on mine :-(, only S3s

And yes panoramic is stretching it, its just a normal sunroof as far as I can see!

Thanks for the feedback, that has definitely helped me. I finally managed to see one in the flesh and agree about extra light but it is smaller than I expected especially for the cost. I think I will be dropping the pan roof for silver headlining and will be saving myself some £££s

Wise move, to make your own mind up that is.
