Hey,

I wasn't at much yesterday so I thought I would have a look at upgrading the reversing bulbs on my A4 to LED.

I noticed the R8's seem to come with the nice white led style bulbs and I happened to have a set spare in the garage so I stuck them in to see what I thought! :) .. I have a brighter set on the way from Trups but some pictures below to give you an idea of the improvement.

I am very happy with them, I think they look much better! :)

Do they give more illumination? I was thinking of adding an extra lighting as the standard reverse lights are poor.

Yep they will offer more brightness depending on the bulb you go for! .. I will take a picture once the bulbs arrive from Trups!:)

I changed the coding to ignore the reverse light as part of the voltage check as I did get a warning with the bulbs I had. I found this on another forum and might be helpful to you guys, very easy done:

1.Module 46 Central Convenience > Security Access 16 > 16017 (use this access code, not the one the ross-tech suggests)

2. Adaption 10 > Channel 181 >Read The value you get is 65535 (at least that was mine). When you convert that to decimal it comes out to 1111111111111111. Bits 8,9,10,11 code for the reverse lights (1111RLRL11111111) so when you convert them it becomes 1111000011111111. Convert that back to binary and it becomes 61695

3. Enter 61695, hit test then save. Done.

You won't know till you try Alex but you might be ok!

I was replacing my reverse light to LED but its illumination was quite poor.

Can you post your LED bulb here?

I got mine from Trups Rigger.

Look great Shaun, im looking a bit more light as I have a slight tint to my rear indicators, reverse lights.

If you've ones on the way and are looking a new home for these I'll have them :)

Do they give better illumination than the standard bulbs? As in seeing what's behind in the dark any better?

Hi.

in my own car I have some fitted and when they are on I can see they are on, its not like a headlight or nothing but brighter than stock, best person to answer that would be the OP as he has had them a few weeks so will give you his opinion from a A4 B8 owners view.

So are they any better in the dark?
Or do I need to fit a spotlight on the back like on a Lotus Cortina ;)

I feel they are much better than the standard halogen bulbs and as Trups said they are not going to be like headlights!lol  Yes there are bulbs on the market which have more LEDs per bulb and will possibly offer yet more brightness, but for me I wanted the OEM look with good brightness and this is what I got from Trups along with a great service as always.

Here are some quick snaps I took last night and as you can see they are brighter! :thumbs up:
