need a bit of help.
my dad has bought a a4 2.4 2003 on the way home from birmingham to manchester the car kept missfiring under load.
when i was replaceing the spark plugs i noticed they were covered in oil and i dont just mean a little either after looking in to the problem i replaced the inner seals that go round the spark plugs the car now has power and has stopped missfiring.
however since ive carried out this work its now smoking from the exhaust (blue)
once the cars warmed up its fine and theres no smoke but once the engines cooled down it smokes again untill warm.
not using no water or oil.

any ideas ?

Are you sure its blue? That would be oil but if its not using any it could be vapour that most emit when cold more so in winter. If you are not sure when its up to 90 let it tick over for a few minutes and then rev hard and see if you get blue smoke.Oily plugs aren't a good sign but often oil is spilt over them when filling. The main thing is for the contacts to be dry and light brown.Make sure the max level on the stick isn't exceeded that might draw oil into the breather pipe

How long has it been smoking for? It could just be burning some excess oil from when you changed the plugs?

You might need a diagnostics check.Changing the plugs wouldn't make any difference to oil burning

I changed the plugs and coil pack because of the misfire but when I went to take two of the plugs out the hole where the ignition lead meets the spark plug was full of oil on two of them
I've left it running until it warmed up then revved it hard and the smoke is white but it's not like normal condensation smoke which all cars do when its cold.
Been looking it up and some people seem to think it's the egr valve ?

Usually if the oil is outside and arround the plug it's likely that you have an oil leak from possibly a bad cam cover gasket.

If the oil was found INSIDE the cylinder and appears on the plug etc, you've likely got badly worn rings, valve stem seals or a blown head gasket.

Have you checked to see if there is oil round those plugs again? If there is then there must be a leak somewhere.I have often found that previous to me someone has spilt oil which finds its way to nearby plugs. My previous 2.5tdi used to make a lot of white vapour but it ran fine and I didn't realise until I got another that doesnt

So is there more oil and if so can you see where its coming from
