Looking at spec'ing a new A3 Saloon, I'm going for S-Line (Daytona Grey) and if money was no object I'd pick Black Styling, however from what I can see there is very little to 'make black' as the base model already has gloss black grill?

Thoughts?

There's a chrome surround on the grille and also surrounding the windows on each side. This will be black.

Personally don't think the black styling pack works with Daytona at all.

It's interesting you don't like the Black on the Daytona, I'd have said the opposite, however £395 to swap out the chrome surrounds seems a bit steep.

I know a friendly paint shop, if the trim components are easily removed I guess I could get them resprayed, it'd certainly cost significantly less than the Audi option price.

Just don't think black and grey go very well together - they're too close.

Have to disagree - being a Daytona Grey S3 owner with Black Pack and black inlays :)

Sorry, looks bland - not enough contrast when everything's black or grey.

I'm looking to either get the chrome wrapped or plasti dipped. I agree that £395 is a lot for not much but it makes a big difference after seeing one in the stealers

Does anyone know if it is possible to order in the pieces for the black styling pack?
Specifically, the side window surrounds?

I had a quote for this, black window surrounds came out at about £800-£900 from Audi, and 2 rear fixed windows on SB would have to be replaced (as most likely will get broken), then there is the hourly rate.

I'd spec it on my next car, and would live with it my current 8V.

Thanks for the info.

I've had mine all sprayed professionally but not 100% happy with the finish of the window surround.

Has anyone else attempted this? Or know where I could buy them online?

I guess if you want the black window surrounds only there should be nothing stopping you getting a reg number of a car with them and asking for the bits at a dealers parts dept. The big question is if they sell the trims separately or as part of the sealing system as well which would be quite pricey. If they are held on with tape then correct surface treatment will be essential.

I personally think that black styling pack is too expensive for what you get, plus with daytona it just won't look right.

I'd leave it and spec something else with the money saved :p

OMG that's horrid :(

Sorry but that lowering destroys the whole look of the car for me. Each to their own though as I always say but I really really don't like that I'm afraid.

Lowering is always a divided choice lol
The lower the better for me ha

Personally i think black pack is worth it and looks the part aswell. My previous car was grey otherwise i would pf got daytona with privacy glass and blackpack. The standard grill is highgloss black wheras the black pack grill is matt black which i didnt notice the difference till i saw it in person. Everone told me scuba blue wouldnt go with black pack as they are too dark but i like it and thats all that matters. I would get the black pack.

Now I'm confused, you pay to get S Line, along with high gloss trim on the door pillars, front grill and bumper, and then pay extra to have it replaced with a Matt black?

Am glad I didn't go for it now. Loving the look of my 'non-black' S Line, I wasn't expecting to like the chrome surround as much as I do but it adds a good bit of contrast to the Daytona grey.

My concern was that Daytona w the black pack wouldnt work, but i ordered it anyway. Now that i got the car i think it looks fantastic. and much much better than the normal brushed chrome version.

Looks fantastic mate!!

Not gonna lie to you I still prefer chrome but I reckon the black looks really smart too. Love the low angle shots from the front, just the way it should be done ;)

These cars are a heck of a lot lower in real life than they look in most pics/videos :)

Have fun :racer:

Ive ordered Monsoon grey /w Black styling pack so will put some pics up when I collect next week :)

Makes it a bit more aggressive IMO.

chrome on Daytona every time :)
