1st Official 8V RS3 shots

Not quite strictly true.

The TTRS was quicker than the RS4/RS5/RS6 and R8 V8, the only car to better the performance of the TTRS was the V10 R8 flagship.

Not sure about that mate... RS4/5, yes, but 6?!?!

Food of thought

C6 old RS6 model mate, they went down the 1/4 in 12.4, standard TTRS 12.1

New C7 model, different ball game, the TTRS would hold onto 60 I think (3.6 tested by C&D) and then the RS6/7 would be off like a shot beyond that.

This is my opinion: nice look but you are still buying a transverse layout with an Haldex joint and built on the MBQ platform. In short: it shares too many features with the 1.2 TFSI lol.
For that price and performances I surely move on another model...

School report verdict: Must do better. An Audi is not a Golf, should not have any elements from a Golf and it should not be going in that direction.

You do realise, the hundreds of shared components between Skoda, Seat, Audi and VW, don't you.............

THAT, shouldn't be looking one nor should it be taking any styling elements from one - particularly them wheels.

Not forgetting the Lamborghini & Bugati brands as well

Apparently there is some switch gear in these 2 from the VAG brand too

And Bentley.

It's more than switchgear, there's lots of essential components including ECU's (hardware) etc.

I'm sure they share the commercial vehicle parts too from MAN and Scania e.g. mono.pur

I think Mono-Pur should become a variant of the A/S3 with a chrome Mono-Pur badge on back of the car just to let everyone know. The neighbours would be sooo jealous. Haha

In case it goes unnoticed..I'm joking!!

DSG is German for Direkt-Schalt-Getriebe, or Direct Shift Gearbox, which is the type of gearbox a dual clutch gearbox is (Borg Warner owns this application in theVW Audi Group).

Audi just choose to use a trademark, S-tronic to describe a DSG gearbox. BMW call theirs M-DCT, Porsche PDK, Mitsubishi, SST, Renault DCT.

RS3 is pride of place on the Audi UK home page - but no new details

I'm not 100% but i think its the same engine from the 8P RS3 and been tweaked for the extra 20BHP.

Anyone received the RS3 email from Audi UK today?

Basically asking people to "Register Interest"

If you’ve ever sat behind the wheel of an Audi RS model, you’ll know something of the power and refinement of the sportiest cars in our range.
With the covers just off the all new Audi RS 3 Sportback, you can now find out how that performance and style comes to life in the compact shape of an A3.
The award-winning 2.5 TFSI, 5-cylinder engine produces the same, unmistakable sound as the previous RS 3. But with an increased output of 367 PS, it also produces more power. It’s quicker too, with acceleration from 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds. And style cues, like unique 19” alloys and oval tailpipes, give it a look that’s just as powerful.
Register below and you’ll be among the first to receive news about the all new RS 3 Sportback - including the hotly anticipated arrival date when it launches in Centres next year.

Registered my interest.

Mrs Pulp has said no to getting one but I get itchy feet quick. Only done 1,700 miles in the S3 so guess bit early to get rid it.

I understand 8V face lift is due Q1 2016 with deliveries that Summer. That might put me off to be fair - don't want to get one and then it has the old "face". Might be BS though

Now I've seen a couple more pics I quite like it actually still hate the interior vents though and the colour and the wheels

How come the SB version of this can have 19" wheel when the S3 can't? HB or SB....crappola

But on the S3 the Mag Ride is not a de-selectable option with 19" wheels.

One of the reasons for making Mag Ride a "must have" option when spec'ing 19" is to do with ride quality.

In comfort mode, the suspension is far better suited/able to deal with the harder/harsher ride that results of putting 19's on.

Looking forward to the RS3, have the email, just waiting to see what the base price is before I get too full of anticipation....................and after all you can chip an S3 to 357bhp easily (and cheaply), which is only 10bhp below the RS3..............LOL

Looks like renderings are slowly appearing online.

Totally underwhelmed I have to say.

The old system with S and RS used to be that the former was the hot version with different front/rear bumpers/skirts but the same bodywork whilst the latter was the bonkers version with different bodywork such as flared/square wheelarches.

This RS3 looks totally boring. Most people would struggle to tell it apart from an S-Line on 19s.

The pricing will be insane too. The last one was £40k, this one will be a bit more than that. Add a decent spec and you're looking at £45-50k. For a small hatchback?!

Feels to me like they're allowing themselves to be baited by the likes of Mercedes with the AMG45, i.e. just lob a stupid engine in, slap a different front & rear bumped on and charge a fortune. Cynical marketing crap if you ask me.

Grey wizard beard and mustache

I see beards are currently in fashion, so I'm glad Audi have stuck a grey one on the RS3 as a fashion statement.
