8V VCDS Mods

Did my first mods yesterday... rear DRLs (though there are 2 ways of doing this and I think the other might be better so will change it over next time), needle sweep and turning off seatbelt warning (I ONLY use this on a private airfield where I drive at about 20mph on an open field!)

Hi @cemerson plz plz PLZ can you PM me how you did these mods?
I've tried to do these, just not sure where to find them.

Ps I do have VCDS.

MANY THANKS in anticipation Matti.

For rear DRL:

STG 09 Cent Elect

Function 16 enter Security code 31347

Fiction 10 Adaption

Select Leuchte23SL HLC10 light function D23
Then select do it. This should turn on the rear right light.

Then select leuchte24SL HRA65 light function D24, then select do it. This should turn on the left rear light.

I have done this one on mine and I think it's the best one to do.

Let me know how you get on

Got the rear parking visuals enabled with VCDS today, looks good. I'm going to give the ACC menu a go tonight.
I also enabled the oil temp in the DIS, it only shows in the computer which is an improvement but is it possible to get it to show at the top of the DIS at all times?

Nice one!! Does it not put the rear parking image on the screen out of the box?!?
Will have to get that changed as soon as I pick up then ;)

I wish we could program the DIS.
There are several items I want in 1 screen, the rest I hardly use.

Only if you have parking plus. If you only have the rear sensors, it's audio only by default, no visuals unless you enable with VCDS.

Nope, you only get the visuals if you spec front sensors too and that adds £250 I think to the rear sensor price.

Oops, too slowww

The oil temp is in the same list as the mpg, miles left in tank, etc below the electric speedometer, I just leave it on there permenantly.

It is once it's enabled with VCDS.
I was surprised that the only way I could see the oil temp was in the laptimer...until I made the mod.

It lets you change the default distance in the mmi, default is normally distance 3.
That menu isn't enabled by default but can be done by a dealer if asked.

I'm guessing you enabled with VCDS?

PS Perfect DIS display - exactly how mine will be.

Does using VCDS to change things flag up any codes that affect the warranty? I quite like some of the changes you can make, such as the sweeping needles, oil temp in DIS, beep when locking/unlocking to name but a few.

@ Tony1982
I never had a problem with VCDS tweaks on my TT and that was in for a new mechatronics then a new S-tronic gearbox...then another S-Tronic gearbox, window regulator, rear quarter window and an airbag module...all done under warranty, no questions asked.

I suppose you're just actually enabling menus in the car that a dealer can enable or are available in other markets, you're not pushing the car past its limits as you are with engine tuning.

Happy days, my car has only just been ordered a couple of days ago, do u think if I speak to the dealers they have some of the changes done for when I collect the car? I'd rather they did it tbh.

My dealership service team were in awe of the VCDS mods i've done on my 8P, especially locking beep.

Yeah, can easily be done with VCDS....once I translated the German menu
Have you looked at that Stemei site I listed up there /\, I use Chrome and it translated for me, although I know what you mean about the reams of german script in the car.

Yeah, that was very handy, cheers. Problem was some of the menus in the VCDS software were in German, I don't have the latest version so that may be why.

They'd certainly do the ACC mod if you specced ACC. As for the rest there's very possibly someone near you with VCDS that would help you out, there's a map somewhere on this Forum that lists their location, etc.

Might be worth emailing Audi UK and getting an official response regarding VCDS and warranty.

A common sense approach is no, but it depends on what. Disabling seat belt can't cause the engine to fail etc

Enabling an official menu for ACC or having the Oil Temp display in the DIS is one thing but disabling seat belt warnings, enabling VIM and maybe even disabling Auto Start/Stop is more likely to get a moan from Audi I would have thought.

I've enabled a few vcds mods like rear visual graphic display for parking sensors, alarm beep, oil display and laptop timer. Took my car in for a service, told them a few faults which I liked them to address and they had to replace a turbo. Nothing mentioned about my vcds tweaks invalidating the warranty.

uhm, I don't get it like that, how did you do it?

I just noticed this morning how to do it. The digital speedometer is not part of the onboard computer, but it's a seperate entry in the DIS menu. Just press the 'menu' button on the left side of your steering wheel and select the digital speedometer. Then you can use the scroll wheel to scroll to the oil temperature setting. In my opinion this is the best setup :)
