Hi Guys,

Just thought i would share my current S3 build with you, I think its the first in the UK to be done Nardo Grey? i dunno if any of you guys no any different but either way, im sure you'll love it..

It started life as a Phantom black car, but i thought i wanted to create something unique that we hopefully wont see around (Copyright in process) :) the original plan was Suzuka but this is seen every now and again where as Nardo is still pretty rare.

I put the 8 pot dave b's on her, finished in Suzuka, with RS3 rotors (ET50 to fit over them)

Next up is a CTS turbo kit GTX3067 with supporting mods which hopefully should see it upto 440BHP ish...

The list of supporting mods i have thought of so far are -
CTS turbo kit GTX3067 ,
CTS charge cooler,
RS3 intank pump,
RS4 injectors ,
GIAC high output file,
Loba hpfp, Evoms intake,
Heat shield,
Water Meth,
EBOOST2 Controller,
Haldex controller,

Anything i have missed or anything you guys would recommend?

Let me no your feedback :)

Serious amounts of money spent on that. Not big on the RS6 quattro grille badge and rotors aren't my thing but it does look good in grey :)

How does it compare to the C63 in terms of performance and thrills?

Wow! that looks cool.Looks like a lot of work gone into that. Can I be a little cheeky and ask how much that has cost you:rock:

Hi mate, if you was to see them in real life they do look good, pictures dont do the car any justice..Im a big fan of keeping things OEM lol.. Performance wise its hard to say as i havent got the above engine mods done yet, so will feedback later but the C63 is an animal, i change the rears every month..But after not driving the S3 for a year, and getting back into it a few days ago bought a big smile on my face! And i imagine ven bigger once shes back from statlers ;)

Ye mate lots of hours and strategic planning haha, tbh i wouldn't want to say some may call me stupid, but when its back from statlers i would say it would match the C63s value all day! Attached is an old pic, i get it back tomorrow tho its been wrapped matte charcoal it also looks pretty good!

Must be difficult driving with sheets of a4 paper on your windscreen:lick:

Looks nice, prefer that colour to Suzuka. Good luck with the rest of the build.

Still needs chrome badges :kissmyrings:

Haha... Black on the back right enough

And what happened to the facelift rear diffuser... Needs done.. Looks a lot nicer than the puny preface 1

very nice mate, i like it...

you might want to consider the ttrs lpfp controller as i've heard that the standard s3 one gets hot when trying to run the rs3 pump. once its hot it shuts down to limp mode...

I'd definitely go with guile's advice re the pump controller but otherwise you've got pretty much all you need.

What suspension mods have you done?

The only other bit of advice would to keep an eye on torque max and delivery on stock internals.

That looks really nice in that colour.

Liking the C63 too. You weren't with the idiot that wrapped his C63 up near Trafford Centre the other month was you?

love it! haha the c63, think I've seen it on a car detailing IG before with red hat car spotter kid pretending to drive it

Show us the difference pal old vs new?

Cheers for te advice mate, Steve @ Statler is doing it so I trust it's in good hands anyway, he's awdome been awsome bit will ask him..

I can't remember bro it was over two years ago but all Ino is there springs only, yellow and 20mm front 25mm back to try and get rid of the rake I think they was £150ish, but since I put the Rs3 rotors on they fill the arches so much better than the standard 18s I had.. I'm a big fan of fitment and sitting correctly

That looks really nice in that colour.

Thanks mate! And noo haha I actually no who the guy is tho..

Haha yes mate red cap spotter it was driving it off and it was polish and glow you would of seen it on

Does any one no if a nardo s3 has been done before I searched high and low and couldn't find one?

i think i never saw nardo or nimbus s3 8p. great car looks great and great mods...

OK...my first bit of advice then is to spend some money pretty quickly on uprating the suspension with a good set of coilovers,ARBs and bushes,or you're going to have a pretty powerful car, with good brakes, and suspension which is simply not up to the job.

You're having the engine and so on built up to a very reasonable spec, and to leave the suspension as it is is asking for trouble.

If you're looking at localised heat shielding around the turbo, you may want to consider using Zircoflex, and also a heat jacket for the hot side of the turbo, but,if you do that, make sure you have the turbo bearing cage uprated to a metal cage.

Water/meth....a lot of us use WMI,but not many have the car specifically mapped for it.

The advantage of mapping for WMI is that you can push the timing, but the disadvantage is that you must ensure you use WMI all the time,and/or have switchable maps if you run out.

I use an AEM system, but there are others from the likes of Devil's Own,and Aquamist.

The quattro badge is a bit Medallion Man , could be toned down by going gloss black as Audi 4 rings above.

How can anyone not like Rotors they're an Audi design classic and getting rid of the outer high maintenance diamond cut finish is great. Maybe keeping the whole wheel satin black , hard to tell.

Awesome car.

Can you give us a link mate to something you would recommend?

Much better looking in these pics rather than the crappy FB ones. I love that colour Ant......very nice indeed mate.
Thankyou mate its nice to be unique
Nice car bro.

Looking good :icon thumright:

:)

Pretty sick build this - looks awesome already!

Coilovers by KW or Bilstein, ARB's by H&R or whiteline. Would be good polybush the entire car at the same time - fit anti lift kit and ball joints/superpro lower control arms etc. With that power I would consider a LSD by Quaife or Peloquin. What clutch are you fitting?

Also what sort of power figure are you aiming for? Stopping at 440bhp with a GTX3076r seems a little low and sacrificing good spool. Wouldn't a GTX3071r be sufficient unless you have plans to do rods/pistons.

It's a 3067 that's on the list......that's the smallest exhaust turbine 30 series,so it will actually spool quicker than a 3076 or 3071.

Well spotted! Not a commonly used turbo on TFSI's

I got my kit from these guys, whom I would recommend.

http://www.advancedme.co.uk/

Fitting is easy enough, but you will need one of these to run the WMI into...

http://www.bshspeedshop.com/bshstore/products/FSI-2.0T-Integrated-Throttle-Pipe.html

I use kW Clubsport suspension which I wouldn't recommend for you,but kW v2 or v3 suspension should give you the control and adjustability you will need.

http://www.kw-suspension.co.uk/variant-3.php

My car has Superpro bushes and Supaloy ALK fitted,as well as a Haldex controller, and I also use a Quaife front diff.

http://www.superpro.eu.com/catalogue/76/audi-a3-mkii-s3-2006-_to-current/

http://quaife.co.uk/

IMHO,the ARBs and suspension alone will help a lot, whereas the controller and bushes make less of an impact, and the diff will take a bit of getting used to,but does make a big difference to traction, although it will not get on with the TCS being engaged.

You will also need uprated engine mounts.....

THS make good engine mounts...

As do Revo, sold via LVS Racing

http://www.shop.lvsracing.co.uk/revo-technik-full-engine-mount-kit-2032-2311-p.asp

That lot should keep you busy for a while, but unfortunately, you are going to need a lot of it,as the suspension, and engine mounts are pretty much required, but Statlers should be able to advise you as well.

Boost controllers...you might want to look at this one...

Nice build plan you got there buddy!

@alex may I ask if your running a external reservoir for your water meth kit or you tapped into your washer fluid tank?

I use AEM's 4L tank,mounted in the boot.

Pump is concealed, below tank level,in the unused battery compartment in the spare wheel area.

Cracking car, love the colour - makes me want to get my calipers repainted a different colour now, they are black at present.

Thought about getting rid of the rotors and going for something lighter? I had 18" BE rotors on my S3 and went with pro race 1.2s, the rotors look nice but they weigh the same as a small planet!

Love the grill too - which one is it, is it a legit RS3 grill or something else? Are you relocating your number plate?

Thanks mate, we pretty much got all that except for the suspension. Also boost gauge i was looking at the eboost2 by turbo smart, pretty pricey tho do you no of any others?

I like to keep the car looking OEM and had pro race on my SAXO all them years ago, but with the new turbo i dont think weight should matter... The grill is off an RS3 your correct- no plan for the number as of yet will keep in window for now :)

So after a meet with statler, now changed my mind and im going with the Nortech HTTA3071R, The other turbo what we had originally panned for would max out at 440bhp ish. Lets go to 500 :)

Does anybody have any knowledge of this turbo? Any videos ?

Thanks

I kind of thought Statlers might steer you in the direction of a better manifold and kit,so that's a good one,and I'll shortly be having a Nortech manifold on mine.

When I bought originally, there were only the BSH and ATP kits available, and the BSH needed a lot of cutting etc to make it fit an RHD car,so I went for the ATP.

I've had a GT3071R,and now a GTX3076(the latter from Owen Developments) and I'm sure you won't find anything to complain about with the turbo you've chosen, but you already know about the need for an uprated LP fuel supply if you're aiming at 500bhp,and the type of controller you'll require.

The HTA compressor wheel is a lightweight aluminium design with an improved profile compared to the stock GT3071 wheel.

I'll not tread on Statler's toes, but you may want to ask about engine internals if you're aiming for torque above or around 440lbs on that setup, and you'll need a fairly manly clutch as well.

Yes mate already spoke about the potential blow up of the engine if we go to much on the standard internals.. As for the clutch forgot to mention they are going to put a Sachs in for me.

But overall it should be fun :)

OK.....as far as most of us are concerned,440lbs seems to be safe, and mine ran that on a 3071 for a couple of yrs,and when the engine was stripped down for a rebuild(not failure related...just for more strength),the internals were within tolerances.
Your main worries are going to be bent rods and melted pistons.

Frankly,I wouldn't go beyond that without a rebuild,as I'd not want to be the one to advise on the first set of bent rods.

I personally think a Sachs organic would be marginal at that level, and mine certainly gave in at 440lbs....I use something much tougher now.

I went with a custom made AWE boost gauge

Boost gauge.....I went old school with this little item...

One of the very few I could find that would run above 2bar.

Nice, whats your thoughts on the WMI

I'd recommend AEM,as in my previous post...

Easy to set up,reliable, and doesn't require mapping as Aquamist's system would if you wanted to get the most from it.

I think for what you've got in mind, keeping temps down is going to be very important, but you do need to watch what this lot does to the torque.
