Hi all, a few months back my orginal window cables snapped on both sides, I got a cable repair kit for each side but they were hopeless, so plumped for a more expensive set off eBay which worked for about 2 months then the clips for the glass snapped so I got a set of wahr regulators from ECP while they were on sale, fitted nicely and they were like oem was all chuffed then tested them, worked fine 3 times now it constantly just wants to stay down. The motor gets extremely hot and the runners are clear and clean yet when it attempts to go up it's mega slow then stops 2/3 of the way up And the motor has started making a weird noise as if the gears aren't mating. Am I missing something on this install cause I'm so close to pouring a gallon of esso's finest over the car and introducing it to a flame!

Please help!!!

Have you changed the motors ? Sounds like you have done everything else so if not must be that or check the actual door frame rubbers makes sure they are not obstructed

No. I ran then when they weren't bolted to the regulator and they run fine in both directions, pulled the motor out itself and gears are all fine.

Sounds a bit obvious but if it's running slowly and the motor is getting hot then there is something loading the system, either something needs lubricating becasue its running dry ot something is tight and binding.
Is the glass square in the runners , have you checked the run of the cables around the pulleys, It could be the cable is not running around a pulley but stuck behind it. If you disconnect the motor from the drive point you can move the window by hand to see how stiff it is.
I have had plenty of cars in my time with keep fit windows, never had an issue. Almost every car I have owned with electric windows something has failed. So much for progress.

I've checked everything, I've had the top half of door out more times than I care to remember, the glass runs freely when it isn't connected to the motor. The runners have been cleaned and lubed, there is no kinks in the guides or anything. The wires run freely and are all on the pulleys so I really can't figure it out. It has the same characteristics as if the anti pinch mechanism is kicking in. It gets so far up and then decides it's just gonna go all the way down.
I was curious if there was supposed to be initialed same as the throttle body on vcds.
I refuse to be beaten by a machine and refuse to pay audi's ridiculous prices!!

If you burn it then you have been beaten !

the motor might run free when its not connected to anything but then again it will as there is nothing putting any resistance against it,sorry to say but I agree with Desertstorm something must be causing it .

Check if the wire is wrapping around the spool or motor
