So i sold my tdi which was running 250bhp by the end and now ive bought an s3 (last sunday 9th nov 2014)
Thought id start abuild thread as ive done the first mod

2008 reg 8P2 black with red&black leathers, conpletely standard no modifications at all,

First mod took 3 days i fitted it wednesday its a DV+ GFB valve heard they are good rdcomended by my tuning garage as standard recirc valves are prone to leaking etc

I hope to stage 2+ it after winter and air ride

Pics to come as its filthy due to rubbish weather
Hope this becomes a good thread when i modify the car

I'm sure you'll enjoy it mate.
To go stage 2+ you need deep pockets so do t spend too much on Christmas presents.

As above, you'll enjoy it,and since you've already done a lot with your last car,I'm sure you'll do the same to this.

You know you're worth it....

Mmmmm stage 2+ it seems ages for me getting to just stage 1 jokes aside revo cai on bcs turbo back exhaust nearly finished and seen a loba HPFP with o ring and oem cam follower £550 I think this is a good price so do I put off remap and buy HPFP 1st or wait and get the remap and some more power first????

Anyway I hope you enjoy your s3 I've only had mine since august and love it.

Dave

I'd have the map and get used to stage 1 power then when funds recover add the hpfp then another £120 to go to 2+.
That's how I done mine but if you've already got downpipe you could go straight to 2.
Decisions decisions

Yep really dying for that extra power as well just hope I'm not disappointed as it feels I've waited so long.

I just went incrementally before simply going mental...

Stg1,followed by Stg2,then 2+,and so on......I could have saved a lot of time by going straight to Stg2+,and maybe stopping there, which would have saved a lot of money.....LOL

Point is,the hardware for each stage is usually a part of the next,so you aren't wasting money, except perhaps on software upgrades(maps) each time, but overall,I would still say that 2+ is the best overall value for money.

So if I go for the remap do I go for unicorn hence asking if the torque pro can data log as I'd need that to supply data to rick for the map . Of apr who are just down the road from me ( tunning Werkes ) or revo from vgs keston .mmmm once again decisions .
So hope I ain't hijacked this post.

If your manual you best budget for a clutch in the near future.
I'm hoping as it's a later s3 there meant to have a slightly better clutch so was hoping it would see me ok for a couple of months.

My 10 plate took stage 1 fine.
As for which tuner.
The one who gives good customer service and most knowledgable and local.
If you have someone that's all of them that's your answer.

Good advice...it has to be someone local,or you'll be travelling for miles, and waiting if your car needs anything doing.

As for the clutch....some cars cope with Stg1,some even manage Stg2,but the moral of the story is that they all give up at some point, and budgeting on one is essential.

That sounds like good advice so revo or apr I think I need to go visit both places and then make up my mind who does the remap. They are both 10 mins away

Hi m8 what mods did you fit to the tdi to get it at 250 thanks

Thanks :),

Yeah few plans in pipework, cosmetic and tuning wise, i thought sinply adding HPFP internals was enough ? I was going to buy a standard fuel oump strip it and replace internals for HPFP ones by autotech ?? And a cai and probably cobra TBE or milltek ??

And is the DV+ any good ? Car seems more responsive since installing it but then again it feels faster than my tdi, also been drivinground in my rs4 so 420bhp im ready for stage2+

Pic of the motors, rs4 cab, dads ml350 cdi and the s3

IMO the HPFP internals performs as expected same as APR, Loba HPFP pumps and saves loads of $$$$$$.
Its a super easy DIY (make sure work table is super clean).
I am personally running it and have zero issues :)
I can post a PDF of the DIY instructions for the golf R a guy (Lucar_R) from other forums posted a while ago which basically covers everything and with pictures!

Regarding DV+ i am also running one. But to be honest i didn't feel any difference, as i had it installed when the car only had 2000KM on the odometer!
I installed it as a precaution to avoid leaks when the stock DV tears/breaks and starts leaking. All i can say is that its a very fine piece of hardware and seems like its bullet proof!

Thanks mate, i think i will be going for a used pump and then stripping it down cleaninng it and then using internals to rebuild it and then just bolt it on will be easier that way as it will be ready to bolt on just before remap

What intake you using ? And whats resonable price for one? Seen the MTC i take on ebay that looks decent but doesnt come with heat shield

Also main reason i went for DV+ i havnt read abad thing about it and its better and stronger that the standard internal valve which can only mean one thing- better drivability

My pleasure buddy. I'll post the DIY PDF file first thing in the morning.

The intake am running is Unitronic for the golf R which is basically the same intake. I ordered it from the US as I have no local alternatives. This intake has one of the best fuel trims available. And the way it bolts on the car is the neatest / strongest I've seen. Plus it's a dry filter

I purchased the intake directly from them but had a buddy of mine living in the US to forward it to me. You should try contacting them to see if they ship to you.

Why do you try and do everything on the cheap?

There's a reason the more expensive brands are more expensive.

Look around and see what everyone else has, everyone can't be wrong..

What smurfworth said. Can't comment on p flo intake but it's one of the okay intakes available, and it's kinda common on US based forums.

I say look around and see what other choices you got. Don't rush

Its not about getting a cheap intake its about gettinga bargain im not trying to get a cheap crappy one just tryingto source a used one if i can but if the p flo isnt that good no pointme even getting that ive seen few on ebay revo one and itg one they look good too, im sourcing parts first then getting all tuning work done at same time so it goes from stock to stage 2+

I bought the revo cai and looks, fit , performance it's so much smoother it may not be cheap but I am a firm believer of buy on price you buy twice, in other word buy what you need the first time round to do the job you want it to do. So one word REVO.

When fitting the revo siliconeintake pipe onto turbo housing do i need to use existing turbo clamp ? Or a jubilee clamp ? Unsure for when it gets here

Thanks

The most secure option is to use the existing spring clamp but it can be fiddly.
Best option as it never comes loose

But i can use a jubilee clamp jusy incase i mess up the spring clamp ? As they get really hot sometimes will it everburn through the inlet silicone hose or will that never be an issue ?,

The unitronic system requires a jubilee clamp on the turbo inlet to hold the silicone hose in the turbo so im guessing it should be fine to use heavy duty jubilee clamp

Revo don't supply a clamp and recommend the spring clamp which won't come to any harm and as I say the best option if you can be bothered fitting it.
A jubilee clamp can be used but I've found previously that they loosen off with the constant change in temperature so constantly needs tightening.
The spring clamp keeps constant pressure no matter what the temp,

Ill try to use the clamp if i dont mess it up, as i dont have clamp pliers to reclamp it if it releases, ill try to do it properly lol but if i mess it up it will have to be jubilee clamp until i buy long reach pliers cars un drivable if i mess it up but touch wood it should be ok

What was your tuned up A3 like compared to your standard S3??
