I am currently running eibach sportlines and standard sport shocks. But am wondering if I should upgrade those.. I am looking at a set of bilstein dampers, but not sure if it is worth it. What do you guys think? Is it really worth paying £300-400 from the standard sport shocks?

B4 , 6 or 8 ?

How old are the existing ?

New dampers are always worthwhile with improved poise and ride quality.

I honestly don't know which of the 3 is best suitable for me.
The existing are from factory, 04. Which means I probably need to upgrade them. I don't ride my car fast at corners, so the B4 should be my choice you think? Are the B4's for lowering springs?

B4 is a good choice for OE replacement. B6 and B8 are uprated for a more sporty ride and are high pressure gas monotube dampers not the normal twintube ones used on nearly all OE installs. The B8 is the same as the B6 but is shortened so it can be used with lowered springs. I believe anything lowered 30mm or more it's recommended to use B8's.

I only have a 1.6fsi. It aint a sporty ride, so I guess I have to go with the B4. B8 is too expensive!

By far the best option with the Eibach Sportline springs would be the Bilstein B8 dampers, this is actually what Bilstein match with in their own B12 kits.

I know Damian @DPM is a forum sponsor and would probably give you a good price but it seems to me some of the German Ebay sellers have some very good deals.

I bought the Eibach springs for my car from German Ebay, no issues and about 70% of the price from anywhere in the UK.

Karl.

I also bought mine from ebay.de. Very cheap. Will the B8 lower my car a tad too, as the shocks are shorter? What if I go with 2 B8 at front, then rear B6 or B4? I am in a tight car budget

Don't the b8 have to be adjusted to take the front sport line springs ?

The Eibach sport line and Pro line springs are supplied with B6 /B8 dampers as part of the B12 suspension kits that Bilstein do.
The B8 shocks are shortened compared to the B6.The B8's don't need to be adjusted.

Have a look at this thread and there is a picture showing how the B8'S are shorter.

As they are designed to be used on springs shorter than normal the shorter maintains the correct range for the shocker and stops the springs unloading if the car is jacked up.
As the B6 and B8 are high pressure shock absorbers they do "push" the car up a little. This is not liable to be anything more than a few mm.
Will be more noticeable on lighter cars.

I read a post on here some one bought some for s3 8p they did not fit right they, had to go back to bilstein to be adjusted i ask damien about this and he said yes and the cost was £50

Latest update:

Went to fit the Bilstein B8s (Part No 35-108191) today but hit a problem. The shock doesn't even clamp the OEM spring when fully tightened, leaves a 2mm gap with the spring rattling, not happy. The eibach spring leaves a 20mm gap. I've contacted Damien at DPM for advice.

There's a shoulder at the top of the shock which prevents the top mount meeting the spring

Here it is with the Eibach

Any help gratefully received, maybe Bilstein do a B8 for lowered springs - heres hoping

Tbh i looked on this upgrade because my strut mount(s) are bad. So i thought to my self, why i'm at it, why not upgrade them shocks aswell.. Gosh, thinking of the price and labour....
