How common would it be for an oil cooler to leak?

Oil warning light came on this morning, and I know the car has had a slight oil weeping from somewhere.

I've look and look but only just seen that the oil cooler look wet with oil.

It's only a tiny drip after the oil is warm.

Is there any seals I could replace or would I need a full cooler?

I'm not defiantly diagnosing This as the fault, but the tandem pump dosent seem to leak, head gasket is fine, egr and manifold is spot on, no oil is coming from the turbo side of the engine.

It's all around the oil cooler and engine mount.

Also last month when I went to check the coolant, the tank was half full, so could the coolant leaked out with the oil from the cooler?

Any help ??

One of the coolant pipes coming from the oil cooler was leaking on mine. It seems that over time the pipe had degraded.

I'm going to try and get it on a rank ASAP.

A new cooler is £68 so I'm willing to change it.

It's got 191k on the clock, so can imagine the pipes/ seals are perished

Also is it hard to replace ?
I know il need new oil and coolant

I doubt it's too difficult, looks quite accessible. Do check the coolant pipes mate, one on mine was very perished.

Il check as soon as I can.

It's does look very accessible

Thanks mate

Have you checked that the oil hasn't come from a boost pipe seal above the oil cooler, or from oil spilled when the oil filter has been changed.

Karl.

Give the area a clean, will help you see where the leak is. The boost pipe joint on mine leaks & drips down onto the engine mount area.

I'm going to give the area a clean today, and I've had a idea, I'm going to wrap some cling film around the boost pipe connections. This should stop any dripping and when intake them off il be able to identify which ones leak of any.

Il try and clean the cooler as best I can, and keep an eye on it.
