£130 for tracking!!! After fitting new suspension all round the tyre centre next door charged £20 for 4 wheel tracking.

Replaced n/s dipped beam bulb with an old one I had stashed.
Was thinking of buying a couple of brighter bulbs, which are worth the money guys?

Tandem pump replaced. Ccm module replaced. Fixed driver door leccy window. Double din conversion next.....new headunit?? Fancy android, any advice

That's what I said to myself when I did it "should there be a next time, it's going to my mates garage"

Update as someone had asked.
I found a place a few miles away, they didn't use hunter but it was full four wheels. At a cost of £50

Car drives mint now, nice a straight, but It has some sloppiness in the steering.

I think it's the crap tyres and possibly a steering fluid change will help it out.

Other than this the car clocked onto 190k, I topped the coolant up, but it need a stat.

This oil is still there and can't find it. Il whip the tandem pump off when I get time, as its not a massive leak.

I've got some money put aside for a new clutch too, as my smf started slipping the other week, but has since stopped.

Someone of you have commented on my other thread about tyres, I will eventually replace them all with a good better tyre, but the missus is learning to drive now and we are due to move into our new house, so I might trade this in for a car for her, and get a b8, or debating just get her a cheap car, pay some debt of them get a b8.
Not sure yet, but I don't wanna spend any more money on the b6

I managed to get a couple of little (well in theory) interior mods done saturday afternoon when I got up after being on nights. I've been meaning to do one for weeks, but the other has been on my list for months.
First job was to switch out the ugly cig lighter that was fitted at the factory with a B7 version that I bought at some point last year ha ha

I hate the way the one fitted from the factory just looks plonked in as an after thought, and sticks up from the centre console

I thought I would be able to just remove a couple of trims to get at the screws holding it in, but it soon became clear that the whole center console would have to be removed right up to the dashboard. It was at this point I decided I may as well tidy up my Connects2 wiring as it currently came out from below the dash on the drivers side, but while I had to remove the radio, climate control, and ashtray I may as well sort it out

I use the Connects2 as a hands free as well as playing music and DAB radio by using a male to male headphone wire with built in mic. This is mainly down to me being a tight **** and not wanting to pay for a parrot system ha ha. So I drilled a hole into the side of the ashtray big enough for the plug to go through, but too small for the mic to fit through. I finished the hole off by hand after drilling it to ensure I had a nice smooth finish so as not to wear through the cable.

This means the wire retracts into the ashtray when not being used, but comes out easily (and much neater) when needed now rather than just hanging out the dash like before. I also put a small cable tie around the cable under the ashtray so that it only comes out as far as I need it too to reach up to my phone without excess wire everywhere.

Also a couple of weeks ago I fitted a perforated gear knob to match my perforated steering wheel

Then today it flew through it's MOT

Fitted some festoon LEDs in the front light unit today. I ordered some bigger ones as the ones I had in from my bora weren't bright enough in the Audi, so they went in the boot light as it has reflectors.

These are really bright and fill the cabin nicely, and now I've found some I'm happy with for the main light I'll get some for the small reading lights to finish the rest of them off.
I've found some that look good, so I've got them ordered up. If they're half as bright as the ones I put in today I'll be happy as they pretty much light up the rear as it is.

I have the one on the right in my car. Is it not a standard B6 fitment/option?

I think it just depended on which version was lay on the shelving next to the car when built, as I've seen both versions fitted to both models?

Plate fitted an some bits under bonnet done . Rs4 bumpet grill still being made

And a sump and gasket.

And made a temporary crankcase breather.

I knew the engine mounts needed doing but I was shocked at how bad they were.

B5 snub mount is a doddle with a new top bolt and fits nice n tight in the housing, no service position needed.

There's now no movement in the drivetrain at all.

How did you find the removal of the sump? Was there much debris in there - did the strainer look ok?
Also, why have you put a crankcase breather on?

The sump is really easy to do, drop the arb down and remove all the bolts, done. No debris at all, the strainer was spotless as was the rest of the bottom end, no pics tho as my phone died.

Just a precaution really. These engines are known to block the breather and there a pain to do (like everything else on this engine). I suspect that's why the sump was leaking.

Thats good to hear.
I think the later engines eg.AKE fitted in the B6 had the revised breather? - dont quote me on that though.
I replaced the breather anyway as a precaution when I replaced the camshafts a few years ago.

fitted rear break up-grade today not a massive up-grade but std 1.8 turbo rear set up fitted on my tdi , next to do tomora is my egr delete

Full service, passat rubber snub mount, and power steering fluid flush.

I did have other things planned too, but ran out of daylight as I worked a 6-2 this morning meaning I didn't get started on my car until 3pm.

Changed the belts earlier to find the damn factors had supplied the wrong aircon belt, gits, and the engine snub mount is starting to break up.
Which snub mount is the best to fit? I've read a few things here and different ones are mentioned??

Plate fitted an some bits under bonnet done . Rs4 bumpet grill still being made

Where did you get the extra covers for under the hood, dam nice they are mate, tidies it up loads??

Numbers for the belts on my 2001 AWX are 5PK1435 for the alternator and ps, 4PK841 for the aircon...

ebay for the covers is your best bet find a rs4 breaking of the b6 verity i had to trim mine a little to fit the tdi engine other then that few cable ties jobs a gooden

I don't understand why people buy these off eBay, as you end up paying more for a secondhand part than they are new?
I got mine from the dealers for £13+vat each, but as said the bottle cover needs trimming a bit to fit the TDI

The large cover for the battery chamber was only £25 too.
It's not on that pic, but I made an extra little mod out of the old cabin filter cover for mine to tidy it up that little bit more.

ebay is good if you know what there worth i paid £7 for the drivers side one and £15 inc delivery for the passenger side one billy bargain :p

A paid 20 for scuttle cover an 25 for washer cover an one behind air box

That's something else I forgot to mention about the aircon pipe cover. You need to replace the top half of the air intake pipe to fit it correctly, or it just floats about.
I realised as soon as I went to fit it that there must be a different part available because of the two clips on the cover.

You need the top half from an S4 that goes by the part number below

It has two extra tabs on it that the clips snap onto

Make sure you get the one with E in the circle at the end of the part number, as that's the one with the tabs :thumbs up:

Loving this Jim, makes it look so much cleaner, defo on my parts list. Will be having mine dipped though in carbon fibre

Yeah I remember you saying something about hydro dipping them. Much cheaper than getting real carbon parts, and if done well looks just as good.

Drove mine for the first time in a few weeks. :)

I'm going to out my s4 wheels on it again, as I tried them on the b5 and didn't like them. I'll put them on this Saturday and get a pic to post.
