Hi,

Eventually got my 'phone linked up via Bluetooth so that I can make calls (see other thread).
Really good and you can even make calls with the roof down (was only 30mph at the time though).
Thought it might be difficult to hear the person / for them to hear me, but no.

Had a text come in yesterday on my mobile and I thought I might be able to "make" the vehicle read it out to me - like a Fiesta Advert (I think it was) I've recently seen on tv.

Couldn't see any obvious way to do it.
Can this be activated ??
Is it something to do with the Voice Control System - this isn't activated in my car due to the hood.

Cheers.

If you have voice control enabled you can say "read new text message"

I'd beinterested in this one as well. Used to work seamlessly in the TT with no manual set up. Text came in, got a notification, either pressed the multifuncion button on the steering wheel, or used voice control, and it read it out. Can't even get the S3 to give me the notification that a text has landed. Also, can't get theS3 to use the phone ringtone. Does seem a step back from the TT

iOS 8 issues aside

Mine beeps when a text arrives
I can get it to read out new text messages
I can get it to ring using the phone ringtone

Ima gonna look into this, I didn't realise text messages could be read aloud OR ring tone used

Audi in their wisdom will not allow us even though we have paid the monies to have this option in the Cabriolet, even with the Hood up.

Mine works perfectly, but you have to fiddle with the settings. I think I had to enable it in the phone bluetooth settings and then in the car.

Reading out text and email tested / works happy days :)

Can't do the ring same as phone though....?

/ just changed my phone to use media as well as phone audio with car , will try later..

I can't select "messages" from the MMI, I get an error message when connecting to my 5s, phone works perfect however....

Ahh.....thought that might be the case Phil.
Seem to have gone full circle on this one !!

I was rather hoping that as the Phone Call Conversations could be heard, that a text read out would be just as straight-forward. I'll stop looking / messing about with it on this front then.

Cheers.

..still can't figure out how to use the phone ringtone in the car.?

I'm struggling to find this setting, looked on both the phone and MMI. iPhone 5s running iOS 7.

Thanks Phil

Just checked and I don't have that option for my A3 pairing, although it is there (toggled to off) for the wife's Mercedes.

The 'Show Notifications' toggle switch is greyed out for Mercedes, but just not there for the Audi. All the other options are there, i.e favourites, sync contacts etc., just not the 'Show Notifications'.

iOS 7 on a 5s, I'm guessing that could be it.

Will do, been after this feature for ages.

Has anyone managed to be able to read iMessages on the bluetooth of their car?

Did you have to do anything "special"? I've an iPhone 5s on the latest IOS version, I did the usual pairing method then went into the bluetooth profile on the phone and selected "Show notifications" (or whatever it is). I can go into the messages folder on the MMI but it only lists SMS messages and not iMessages.

I have had e-mails.... Once....

See the audi-sport.net e mail on the screen.... but I don't get them now!

Hmm... I'll try doing a reset on my phone. It certainly seems a bit flaky!

Well after doing a few resets it seems this has started (half) working - I get messages most of the time, but a few get missed. However I can't write any messages on it or reply.

No, lets get this the correct way round.

The Apple implementation of the bluetooth stack is incomplete and rubbish !!!!

Audi MMI supports dictation perfectly well with Android !

Ah damn! You'd think that given Audi tout iPhone integration on the MMI so much in sales literature they would have created an interface that works fully rather than "does a bit of this and a bit of that".
