On my Audi Chorus headunit I get very poor FM signal and NO AM signal at all
I removed the headunit and the ariel connector was clipped on fine, when I removed it I stuck a metal little screw driver in the ariel slot on the back of the headunit and picked up a signal on AM and FM
What's the problem, is it the AMP?? The headunit plays the CDs fine with no problems and can pick a few FM stations up such as Smooth and BBC Tees but the rest are poor
Any ideas, please let me know, cheers

I had the same problem with my Symphony head unit, I upgraded it to a DAB unit, not much help to you, just saying... :audibash:

I also have the same problem, I've been told it's the actual HU but have not been able to confirm this yet...

Again, not much help! But I will also be interested to see what people have to say about this. . .

I would but the thing I hate about after market HUs is that they all look so sh!t! . . If I had the cash I'd deffo be fitting an Audi RSN-D, either way just can't bring my self move away from a OE head unit!

I hear what you're saying Bruv... How much does an Audi RSN-D cost? I went for a pioneer double din unit, cost an arm and a leg... Looks and sounds great though...

ahhhh mate, they go for about 4/500 quid second hand o_O and then you gotta find and buy a double din cage, different heater controles and probably a few other bits...

There's a couple of guides about on the forum, looks sweet tho... Would finish of the interior nicely!

Finally got round to sorting out my crappy FM/AM signal on my Audi Chorus head unit as it's been doing my head in!
Turns out it was this pesky little ****** on the roof, they have a little amp circuit board under the plastic dome and they are prone to getting water and crap in, that's what caused my rubbish signal
Rang Audi Teesside for a price on the part, quoted me £48, rang a car scrappy, £15......DEAL
I have now fitted the new aerial dome (Part No: 8L0 035 501) and the signal is now PERFECT
All FM stations are now crystal clear and I can now pick up AM stations and finally have TalkSport back :thumbs up:

I just noticed a split in the plastic mount when I was washing it and thought I'd remove it to try and re-seal it, turns out when I removed it completely, It was shot to bits inside and the little rubber seal it sits on was perished. Yeah mate, the last two are how bad it was, no wonder I had rubbish signal
