I've just upgraded to the iPhone 6, I've jumped into my car to setup the bluetooth.. it connected fine without any errors. However I have noticed when calling via MMI, after ringing 1-2 times the ringing will stop.. you cant here anything on the phone either as the 'audio source' is still the Audi MMI, I have to manually switch this back to phone to hear anything. I've also noticed today that no network reception is shown (just empty bars) on the MMI system despite there being reception shown on the phone.

Wanted to know if anyone else is receiving issues like this or how to fix? I have tried deleting and repairing the bluetooh but that hasnt made a difference.

It does but I'm not sure why that's even relevant to the topic :/

Maybe not but there are a bunch of us wondering whether an iPhone6 will work with the A3 so worth asking trailblazers such as yourself everything about it. Since the 6 is bigger than the 5 it's a pretty good question. So thanks for confirming!

I imagined it would work, like any other iPhone with the A3 (unless I'm holding it wrong lol) but I can't figure out what the issue and I really don't want to backup and restore the iPhone

You reckon? With the big cable connector sticking out the end I find it a pretty tight fit with iPhone5.

I've got the same issue with my 2014 Audi A3 and the MMI. I can play music fine, but the second I make a phone call - after a few rings I will get network error on the screen and can't hear anything.

I have a 2014 Q5 TDI and noticed the same thing when trying to pair my iPhone 6 with the MMI. Podcasts and music were fine but calls were a dud. I didn't have any problems with my iPhone 5s and decided to send the iPhone 6 back because I didn't feel like it was much of an upgrade for the price.

I'm really hoping its just a firmware issue, I'm due a service in 1000 miles and hopefully they have firmware update out by then.

I'm contemplating returning mine too, not only because of the Bluetooth issues but I find the phone is not comfortable in one hand use.

Just got my iphone 6 plus and appears to be ok i.e. works the same as the 5 s with the added bonus that the call list is as the call list on the phone, rather than just the calls which had occurred once the phone was connected to the car. The signal strength indicator is there.
I thought I had issues re no ringing tone but I think that was because it was connecting to the old 5 s which was still switched on. I had restored the six plus from a back up of the old one, so the name was the same which was confusing... I had to pair the new one with the MMI and made one call which connected ok and had the dial tone. Will check out the other things later.

My iphone 6 connects fine, when i make a phone call, i'm able to talk for about a five seconds, then the call drops off.

The MMI still shows the phone is connected.

This is either IOS8 related or the phone itself, i'm afraid we'll have to wait for a software update from Apple.

My iphone 5 worked flawlessly with the MMI.

Can someone with an iPhone either the 6/6+ with iOS8 test to see if they are getting the same issues?

Phoned Apple support and logged the problem, the more people who complain the quicker we'll get it resolved

It won't be an issue with the phone, it's got to be down to the software. I've been on iOS 8 for a while now and not had any issues :/

It won't be Apple's fault.

They make perfect hardware, and perfect software.

It must be true, I read it in MacUser magazine.

I've got an iPhone 6 plus which works fine with calls over bluetooth but I can't seem to connect messages via Bluetooth anymore which is pretty frustrating..

P.S. iPhone 6 plus fits in the armrest just have to make sure you tilt it diagonally!

Following the link in above post it seems that resetting network settings on the iPhone solves the problem.
  • Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    • This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings.
Worth trying?

Now you know why some people hate apple products so much with their closed, restrictive archaic os. Welcome to hell. Get an android phone and all your problems will disappear. I gave up on apple years ago. Old tech (eg low resolution screen) in a pretty box with great marketing and silly price tag.

Spot on.

iPhone 6 is 2 years behind android eg screen resolution is equivelant to a budget android phone like the moto g or nexus 5. Note 4 and Lg g3 resolution/dpi are near double the iPhone 6

sure the iPhone 6 is a nice phone but it should be £400 max

iPhone 6 plus is just pointless - wheres the note writing capability?

I've got an iPhone 6. No issues connecting mine up at all.

I sense that a lot of people don't like iPhones here lol

Oh god, don't start THAT again! Some of us like iPhones and some don't. End of .....

Now, did you try the Network Reset that I suggested above in post 25?

Not trying to start any flame wars lol

I'm gonna try it tonight when I get home, switched back to my 5s I need to make phone calls in the car... I'll let you guys know the outcome

How could reset network affect the charging capability of it?. I'm happy to try it though. I've tried 2 phones though.. And Audi tried some of theirs in the workshop.

MMI is one issue, but it should ALWAYS be able to charge....

Tried that yesterday still no luck! :/ bluetooth handsfree and music player works but not messages.

Also now since I've done that it won't play music when it's connected via a cable to the mmi anymore. Fml

Ha. With your OCD? You're calling a win?! Seriously? :p

You won't be able to live with the fact that it's not flush, square, lined up, at a funny angle :p

It fits and I'm happy lol.

Think I'll just use wifi anyways as I can still access playlists while doing so and charge off connect USB if required.

Apparently the 6 Plus is quite bendy, so you could always bend it into a curved shape to fit :p

Laws of physics, aluminium materials can bend. But like Audi's soft body panels lol.

Same thing was around when I got my 5 and 5s, i've remained bend free. If it's in your back pocket and with enough force I'm sure it would go.

I tried resetting network settings but it didn't make a difference, still unable to make calls

Vimy,

Going back to your original post, have you tried limiting the Bluetooth connection to hands free phone only ie switching off Bluetooth audio?

John.
