ClubGTI Curborough Sprint Event 2014 - 7th September

God, I'll be happy if I can just make it there at this rate! . . And IF I do I've absolutely no expectations of being competitive in the slightest seeing as I'll be on sh!t tyres, I have a knackered damper and I'm not even mapped yet!

And yes, I am making excuses already :lick: still, should be a fun day

You're more than welcome to be a passenger with me for the day as long as you can get to Prawns in the morning.

I see your game Jardo, trying to eliminate even the least competitive of competition in the early stages ey!?

You may have the slowest S3 JoJo but don't you have loads of handling goodies? . . Anyway, as the self proclaimed "S3 drift king" I'll be expecting to see you drift at least one whole lap!

You gotta turn up if you want to see it Lewis

Im looking forward to some decent video footage of the day Nick. Have a safe drive and have fun, :) x

Wishful thinking, if you want my to tempt a mild drift on that circuit, there's not much room you know! lol My handling mods is not suited for tight circuits, but I'm going to have a good go!

Should I start making excuses about how Curborough isn't fast enough for my aero to be active so I'm at a loss from the start?

Or should I just deal with it and see what happens :racer:

other than your mot certificate do we need to take anything else or just arrive and drive?

Got mine all prepared, threw a bucket of water over it to make it more shiny to reduce the drag :), and took the back seats out to lose a bit of weight. Car might be just under 1750Kg now so only about 500Kg more than most of the cars attending tomorrow.
Looking forward to a nice day as the weather looks to be good all day.

If you read the indemnity/entry form and the first page of the CGTI thread you'll know exactly what you need to bring.

We should rename this forum spoonfed-sport.net

:undwech:

Team Prawn Racing is well on the way.

See you all there, wish everyone a safe journey and a perfect day.
;)

Hats off to Jardo and Daz, I bow down to you! :anbet:

To be honest I was happy with my time, I drove as hard as I could, but it wasn't good enough! But we all turned up, had a good time, and got home safely! :thumbs up:

Thanks to all ASN participants that came along!

it was 3 s3's and prawns a3 how do you think it went!!! lol
nick will no doubt do an update so will leave it down to him

****** - forgot this was happening today. Too busy taking the kids swimming and giving the car a clean to remember!

lol, figured prawn would annihilate everyone but he does have 20k in it, kinda hoped a few fast a3's would be in the mix...

Great day out nice to meet every one there, great atmosphere and nice weather made it really good.
Thanks to JOJO for organising this for ASN and to Club GTI for getting together a great event.
Need to get some decent tyres if I try this again as Goodyear Eagle F1's just don't cut it on the track.
Happy to beet the supposed quick time of 30 seconds with a 29.75, 7th fastest overall.
Congratulations to Prawn, In a different league really.

Karl.

Took a few Photos

Looking cool or trying to keep cool with the window down, does that make it faster ??

An S4 that turned up to watch and ended up running

Prawns main opposition

Diesel competition for me a 1.9 TDI Vento.

My car in it's low drag configuration, washed it to reduce the weight and improve aero :)

Very impressed with the red stuff pads only a short run but they are way better than stock, think they are fully bedded in now. And hardly any dust, with OEM pads the wheels would have been black.

Nearside front tyre on my car

Offside front tyre took a bit of stick if I was in an F1 race I would have pitted half way through.I think the understeer I was getting was the front tyre running on marbles.

And the timing sheets

Oh yea, "I turned up to watch", with my full on track tyres!.. Bet the guy had my spot as well, bastad!

Glad everyone had such a good day, lucky with the weather by the looks of things as well!?

Good job I decided not to come in the end as I fixed one problem and found another, gutted all the same though :frown:

Next year FOR SURE!

I LOL'd.

Nice to meet you Karl, crazy skills to get those times out of a diesel couch.

Good show!

Getting sub 30 in the A4 is a pretty fantastic achievement I reckon Karl! When we spoke at lunch I thought you'd crack it :) Very pleased for you! Really nice to meet you too and good to have a chat about the cars :) it's always cool to see something so different being used like this!

Lap in your car was enjoyable! I really liked the challenge having never driven it before.

I think I did a 29.28 in your car Daz. Hopefully the comments helped and you know where to look next :)

I couldn't stop laughing this morning when I uploaded that clip from jardos car. I was going to trim it down but when I heard the talking before and after I couldn't bring myself to hide it from the world

As for the S4 that turned up to watch

he rocked up on road tyres with a set of R888's on track wheels in the boot.

Watching my **** :racer: went well though! Quick car.
