Hi guys, looking for some opinions/ideas from all and a bit of financial wisdom!
I have a 53 plate A3 2.0 TDI sport, 72k miles on clock, FSH, cambelt done in 2011.
I own the A3 outright, have done for a few years, and have enjoyed the car alot. Recently I have been thinking about getting a new car, an A4 Avant or similar.
I am currently saving for a house, so a new car would be partly financed with a loan. 2 weeks ago I was offered £3100 in p/x for my A3. The new car was going to cost me £290 per month for 4 years, but it was 62 plate with 4900 miles on.
Now, keeping the A3 and staying debt free sounds best to me, however Im worried that at its age and mileage, expensive things are going to start breaking.
Last week it went in the garage for a squeaky alternator belt pulley, but it got a whole new alternator fitted, £300.
I guess my question is, do I keep the A3, and save myself £300 a month I would be paying for a loan, and fix things on the A3 as they go wrong, or is the A3 likely to start falling apart and not be financially viable?
Cheers.
