Brakes

I was unsure what to go for but have just fitted pagid disks with ds2500 fronts and very pleased with that setup.

I know the Ds2500's are meant to be really good with standard discs but they are £170 ish just for the pads, no wear sensors plus the price of new discs on top.

It's says Brembo pads, don't know how much they differ from oem pads.

Yeah I'm running the standard 312mm at the moment.

id imagine they are brembo oem spec.
mate its ALL about the pads. buy the cheapest discs you can and put toward the pad. fluids also inportant of course.
200 seems a lot for what you get in that deal. the discs being drilled is imo a downside.
grooved has its advantages but if you dont drive hard they get less required.

brembo basic pads are normally oem spec mintex ;)

Seen a few now with brembo logo badly stamped over mintex logo and part numbers

Cheers for the replies, I know these "brake threads" have been done to death but came across these and thought they might be worth a punt.

I'll get some standard discs chucked on then, what other pads can anyone suggest other than the ds2500's ?

Something under £100

Stay away from drilled discs because they get hot and crack the disc.Just go grooved because they will last so much longer

Mate I got mtec brake black edition discs that are dimpled and grooved and they're better than oem at the same price as oem and coupled them with textar pads as they're same as oem but with less brake dust.

I'll have a look at the mtec discs, going to uprate the pads though.

Do the Ds2500s squeal at all or give off lots of brake dust ?

you have had a look at mtec discs!!
they are the ones in my link. both companys probably buy in plain discs and drill /groove them and sell them on.
like i say you can ask mtec for grooved only.
as for pads
mintex1144 can be had at under 100 but mixed views on them
also there are ferodo ds performance which got mentioned in a recent thread. in between oem and ds2500
they are around 120 so still under 200 all in

Oh yeah ! Lol

I looked at your link but didn't go into the description, I was thinking brembo but you said 'to go with you brembo set up' sorry mate, my mistake !

I've read before about drilled discs warping so will see about the grooved mtecs.

they crack mainly.
hopefully these mtec are good. mines a track car so it will be getting abuse!!!

I had Mintex M1144 pads on my previous mk4 Golf GTi and they were fine. Got them through Camskill for £80-90 I think.

I was going to get mintex but I read that they were like the oem pads and gave off an incredible amount of dust. And the textar ones are not as bad but they are still really great in the setup I have.
