Does anyone know if it is possible to activate through vcds , the seat belt warning light and the check engine symbol light when the ignition is turned on in the instrument panel on my A4 B5 1.8tqs 1999 to make them both active, as both mine have never worked, or did they not connect them on this model year?

Not used.

TQS doesnt have a management light, no A4 with M3.8 management has it.

Dont think i've ever seen seatbelt warning on a B5, maybe it was a foreign option?

Its just a bit annoying on the TQS as the white background means you can see them all. The normal A4 clusters are black so you cant see the stuff you dont have.

You can code the seatbelt in with vcds, but it's not really a warning, I did it when I was messing around with vcds and it comes on when you start the car then disappears after a couple of seconds regardless of whether you have the belt on or off

Its just doing that because you dont have the feature.

On ETKA it shows two different belt latches. The standard ones and then a different one with a sensor in it. I presume some countries must have a legally mandated warning, so they get it and we dont.

That makes sense, it did seem pretty pointless that it didn't do much. Long since coded back to normal.

It's just that I bought a new vcds system from Nigel (NHN) last week, and I am interested in seeing what is available that I can enable - already done the 15mph door lock, how is the seat belt warning light enabled Sulli ?

(from the VCDS wiki)

[Select]
[17 - Instruments]
[Recode - 07]
Write down the existing coding for future reference.
Enter 5-digit code from below
[Do It!]

Look at the first two digits in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.

00 - No available equipment
+01 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+02 - Seatbelt warning active
+04 - Washer fluid level warning active (may only work with pre-2000 models)
+16 - Navigation System (non-USA models)

When I coded mine for the seatbelt warning light (the first two digits were 00, so I changed it to 02). It didn't do anything worthwhile, just a seatbelt warning light on the dash for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on.

Thanks richardm - will have a play at the weekend.
