My dealer is just off the phone to tell me that my S3 is coming in without the spec'ed audi parking system plus.

I ordered the car with comfort pack, adaptive cruise control, and the parking system plus. They have obviously messed up a bit and not ticked the parking system box.

They have said they will fit the front sensors, but as for the MMI display basically its tough, and there will be no discount on the car.
Its a £250 option, i would expect to at least get that back off the car value.

Has anyone else experienced this and what was the outcome?

I believe you are well within your rights to reject the car and wait for one with the correct spec to be built (as long as you have some paperwork to backup your claim - original order form or even dealer email where they are telling you that it's been built wrong...). If the dealership aren't helpful then give Audi UK a ring. At that point you might get some movement on "compensation", but at that point you gotta ask yourself the question whether a) the "compensation" is worth not having an option that you wanted enough to pay for in the first place and b) can you wait the extra x number of weeks that it will take for new build...? I think some members that have found themselves in this situation have ended up with a courtesy car to use whilst waiting...

i wouldnt want to cancel the car for the sake of front parking sensors and internal display.
I would just want them to knock the £250 price of the option off the value of the car and give me it back off my deposit. Surely thats not too much to ask for?

They having a joke?

If your not prepared to wait for another build then I would say the least they can do is set up the front sensors and give you the £250 off the car as a bare minimum. Don't understand how they can still charge you for an option that is not fitted regardless of whatever bodge they are going to do ?

Personally I'd complain to sales manager or dealer principal

They can't charge you for an option that ain't there mate... So I think that goes without saying... I think you need to push for more of a gesture to apologise for their mess up... Lay it on thick how disappointed you are and you will have no probs getting something. If not let them know you are considering complaining to Audi UK. If that doesn't make them offer you something then I'm sure Audi UK customer services will do something for you.

i have emailed them to say im not happy with them fitting the front sensors and thinking that is sufficient to cover my loss of £250 option.

Lets see what they come back with. The are also saying the visual display cannot be retro fitted, but according to the VCDS mod thread on here it can be turned on.

Audi really do just think they can call the shots with this sort of mess up, and to be fair it was more than likely the sales guy who got the order wrong rather than the factory.

According to the Audi configurator the 'Audi Parking System Plus is a £595 option. Not sure where you got £250 from.

I'd be going for a refund of this cost plus some extras for the inconvenience. Those extras will be a few hundred quid for missing something big off the spec like that. I'd be quite annoyed as you obviously took time to spec the car with what you wanted and now you haven't got the car you ordered! I do find some Audi dealers customer service staggering at times with their attitude.

My S3 came without the ordered Mag ride. The dealer was very appologetic and offered the options of having a new one built; taking the one without mag ride; or they seemed to be offering keeping it until a correctly spec'd car was delivered - I did not fully investigate exactly what was on offer there. In the end as it was one of the very first S3 SBs to be delivered I just wanted it so they deducted the cost of the mag ride and "sweetened" the deal for it; which I took.

Two options...

1. Reject the car and wait for the correct spec to arrive and insist on a courtesy car of equivalent or greater spec while you wait.

but sounds like you do not want to wait so......

2. Demand a reduction equivalent to the full option price for the lost option and pick a figure you would seem as reasonable as compensation to be discounted off the balance payment

Whatever option you choose I would phone and insist on speaking to the dealership principle, make your request, give them 24 hours to reply to your request. Make sure you back up your request in writing/email and ask for their response verbally and in writing and state you will go direct to Audi UK if you are not satisfied with the response.

its £595 as a stand alone option, but its £250 when included with the comfort pack on the configurator

Ill try and get the £595 value as its now a stand alone option that wasnt included.

I cant believe that they think fitting front sensors covers their mistake

I agree with the above comments, don't let the exitement of a new car affect you and threaten them to sort it out or you will go to Audi UK

Tbh I'd go to Audi UK anyway. The dealer shouldn't have even contemplated offering what they have - I certainly wouldn't want a dealer drilling holes in my brand new car....

The arrogance of the Audi franchise strikes again.

Ultimately they should refund you to the tune of what you've lost (irrespective of the fact it's part of the comfort pack). If you can get £595 back you might be able to get Hazzy Dayz or another fitter (maybe NHN on here) to do a full retrofit with the money which includes the screen capability.

Don't get angry with them, express sincere disappointment, don't make any quick decisions and let them know you'll be contacting Audi. UK to discuss your options.

I will definately be showing my concerns in a professional manner.

It would be a bit hard for me to get those guys to retro fit as im in northern ireland :( one of the draw backs being this side of the pond i suppose

Hmmm, unless you came over to see us for Audi's in the Park in August for the world record attempt!

what world record attempt is that?
I will be in amsterdam in August for my wedding anniversary, so maybe 2 trips might be a bit bank busting :(

I'm not sure I would want the dealer fitting the front sensors. Are they going to drill the bumper? Are they going to use the Audi factory spec sensors with the correct car colour?

I agree Warren. In many dealerships success has certainly led to customer service apathy. Which is in stark contrast to their mission statement "to delight customers worldwide"

A member on here asked their dealership the exact same question, ie what would happen if their car came with missing options, they were told they would have 2 options, take the car and get a discount, or wait until the correct car can be delivered, meanwhile that incorrect car is your loaner car until your correct ordered car arrives.

Stand up for your rights, don't let them push you around, they are in the wrong, not you.

One thing that seems to strike fear into the Dealers is the post sales satisfaction survey from Audi UK.

Anything less than an "Extremely Satisfied" can lead to financial penalties (the only language they understand).

It's important you use the exact wording (again, the only thing they recognise), so I would start by walking in and saying repeatedly, "At this moment in time, I am Extreme Un-Satisfied - what are you going to do to change this".

May agree with this if Audi took any notice of the surveys. Submitted mine 2 plus weeks ago with adverse comments, which has not prompted any response, from Audi or the dealership.
,

And if you haven't taken delivery, don't sign saying you accept the delivery as it's not what you ordered.

Had a TTS I ordered turn up less the parking sensors and the interior wasn't the colour I specced - I wasn't happy! The seats were silver leather down the centre and looked OK, so I lived with it. I actually specced all black. The parking sensors they fitted for me, but had I known that they are not the same as the factory fit items, I would have taken a different view on it. Essentially the dealer fit sensors a) looked like some old tarts nipples and b) you couldn't adjust the sensors in any way as they were not linked to any other systems in the car - so I'd check that if I were you. In your situation I would be tempted to tell them to stuff it and re-order the car for you. In the meantime, tell them you'll make do with that S3 as a loaner until the one you want arrives. I'd be fuming if that happened to me - hope you get it sorted out...

Heard a few of these "missing items" threads now, some on a VW forum too, where are these problems arising from? The dealer not entering the order into the system correctly or a stuff up on the factory floor?

Which ever it is, it's simply not good enough.

On most occasions, its the dealer at the order entry stage.

It's quite rare for a car to be mis-built (though it does happen) at the factory.

I would agree, I had to have my order corrected as it was missing the Luggage Pack and Folding Mirrors I had ordered. Always good idea to get a copy of the vehicle detail form to confirm exactly whats been put on the order system.

im considering just telling them to keep the car and go order something totally different.
Its been a disaster from start to finish with Audi and i may be able to get just a good a deal on a CLA45 amg

Don't let the dealership put you off of what is a great car, have a go at them and they will sort it out.

i doubt the front sensors with genuine Audi, it will be a cheap kit they can just bang in and make a few quid from. as said above they won't link in with any other equipment or work on mmi.

i could be wrong but i don't think Audi would retro fit anything that isn't available as a genuine kit from Audi themselves.
