Hey guys! im new to the world of Audi, just moved over from the jap scene!
Just bought a facelift a3 1.8t sport and absolutely love it to bits but just wandering how easy it is to gain more power from the weedy standard 150bhp!
Help me!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

sure you'll get loads on this, but a generic remap from revo/amd/custom code will up the power a bit. then, change turbo for ko3sport or ko4, or fit hybrid such as ihi. depends on money. i'm skint, got a revo remap, a dynatwist induction kit, which i might bin and forge dv, goes better, but got turbo sitting in shed for a bit more oomph!

your's should be dbw( drive by wire - no throttle cable) so has better tuning potential than an early one like mine.

also change intercoolers, limiting factor on intake side. s3 twin system would be a start or a front mount, again depending on money

The easiest way to get extra power as rojocho says is to get a remap.
When i first got my A3 the power was ok but i wanted more, so i booked it into Jabbasport and got it remaped it took it from 150 to 225 bhp in three hours not bad eh, oh and the extra grunt is amazing well worth the money, DO IT.

From what I know the facelift A3 1.8T has 180bhp and uses the K03s turbo.
Of course I may be wrong as there are many different engine codes. Better to check the power output of yours as I don't think it is the 150bhp model.

A remap (although is money very well spent) won't take you from 150 to 225
especially when on a K03.It is more probable to get near 200bhp from 150 and near 225bhp from the 180 engines

I beg to differ darnich, as i have the before and after dyno graphs from jabbasport as it was rolling roaded before and after re-mapping, and i don't think a big and respected company like Jabbasport would tell deliberate lies.

Facelift 1.8T is 150 BHP
Facelift 1.8T Quattro is 180 BHP IIRC

Unless you have an engine that uses the K03s turbo it is almost impossible to achieve such an output as it is well known that the limit of the K03 turbo (that the 150hp engines use) is around 200.

And still 200hp with just a remap and no other mods is a bit high.

Whats your engine code? Perhaps you have the 180hp engine...

Cheers guys! Looks like its gonna be a remap but funds are pretty low after foking out on wheels and suspension!
take it you guys recommend jabba sport. how much does it usually cost and does it include a rolling road session!

anybody recommend a decent panel filter? not a big fan of induction kits!

IMO the remap is the best value for money you will ever get on the 20v turbo engine

I've seen a pre facelift A3 quattro with a 180bhp engine and I think it was a late 99 model...

anyway the only sure way to find out is the engine code

I thought it was only the Quattro A3 that was given 180bhp?. All A3 1.8T's were 150bhp as far as I knew.

Dont forget to check out MTM, AmD, MRC, Revo, APR etc for the remap.

Also I wouldn't bother about the panel filter, just change the original one on a regular basis. They are only about £6 from the dealer..

cheers for that!
anybody had any probs with remapping? scary stories?
diagnostics still work as usual??

best do a search on generic forums and google.

try the http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/ and http://www.uk-mkivs.net - you get a lot of mixed responses from different tuning companies and different tuners.

You could also try searching on here also!

It has been discussed many times...

not had problem with rmap, but gone through a few maf sensors in the last year, common fault! also didn.t some 150's come with a ko3s? sure i read it somewhere.

if ducting to airbox is similar to early a3(mine) just junk it, and route a flexible conduit (similar to those in induction kit) into your airbox. early ones go round the front, up/down everywhere. nice straight route from where intake is to airbox will help. hate my kit, but cant be ******** to change it back in case it gets slower!

Got a good price from e-maps £350 all in includes travelling to my house! what u guys reckon? anyone used them?

Wouldn't trust anyone coming round my house TBH. I paid £500 for my revo remap but they've dropped the price to £400 now. Worth getting it done at a recomended place for peace of mind.
