So does anyone know what the diifferences are in comparison to the 3.2 q S-line?

Is it just exhaust and suspension? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Best you do then, cos its the same as the A3 3.2 give or take a few KG...

Lee, heres is the standard spec for the new R32..... press

I think you'll find brakes have also been upgraded, the engine is now an FSI, the acceleartion has improved (specially with DSG), and alot of the standard stuff like xenons, rain sensor wipers and auto-dimming mirrors are extra on the A3. Food for thought. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

TDI, where does it mention FSI? There was nothing on VW's press release about it.

It's not FSI, that's a totally different engine (passat/toureg) it's longitudual and wouldn't fit into a golf/a3 or tt. The 3.2 in the golf etc is a narrow V evolution of the 2.8 VR6 engine from the early 90's.

I just find it too fussy, i actually prefer the gti (on 18"s of course!) If it is an FSI, i'll happily eat my hat!

you just never see it documented anywhere official.

Fussy or unfussy? Seems pretty straight laced to me. Rather grown up. Quite like it for it's sheep in wolf's clothing look.

Nope it aint fsi. I know this for certain. the 3.2 FSI inline engine is too large for the a3/golf platform. The 3.2 in golf and A3 is a development of the original golf VR6 engine.

Also the mk v r32 doesn't come with Xenons etc as standard (where as it did on Mk IV) - all at extra ££££.

I am guess that the arbs maybe more agressive on the Golf?

On that Spec sheet above it says 'Bi-Xenon headlights with headlight washers and automatic range adjustment ' under standard equipment???? Confussed. Anyway I don't like the new golf, looks pants! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

okay maybe the xenons bit is wrong.

How come its so close to the 3.2 spec? The last r32 was 10bhp down on the audi 3.2 engine.

Another great Golf I reckon. EVO pitched it against the new BMW 130i and the R32 lost out, but only slightly. They think the GTI is still top dog.

And those 18s would be an absolute pig to keep clean!

has it got a new crease line down the side of it? or is that standard

not sure on this, decided to do some reading (always a good idea before opening trap!) and found an article, admittedly a bit dated now, on the new RS3 (if that ever happens) which will supposedly be based on the current narrow V 3.2 but will feature FSI and a turbo, totalling 100hp more than the current 3.2

The new 3.2 FSI in use in the A4 at the moment will NEVER go in the A3/Golf as its a 90degree V6. It simply wont fit. That doesn't mean however that they wont FSI the existing V6 which is a narrow angle so it will go in the smaller A3/Golf chassis. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bang.gif

I understand that the head on the VR6 engine is too small to accomodate the FSi components, so until they can be miniaturised, no FSi VR6.

This months VW driver (october) which features the new R32, says the new Mk 5-based model will use a slightly uprated FSI version of the 3.2-litre V6, now developing 250 PS (up by 9PS).

So where are these hats?

the audi 3.2 has always had a 10bhp advantage over the mkIV r32. Also heard that the audi runs large maf? Maybe the balance has been equalized with the MrkV? Maybe the golf also runs a more agressive DSG ecu?
