Can somebody please advise me on how to remove a passenger dash vent on my 2006 a4 b7 avant please. Does it just pull out or is it a bit more complicated.

Something tells me it will be more complicated than that... but someone will be along to provide some more definate guidance shortly.

How come you want to remove the vent?

Yes that's what I thought. I have to remove the vent as the little chrome adjustment piece was broken when I bought the car and needs replacing. And I think I have to replace the whole vent.

the center just pulls out
i cant rember if the side had 1 screw holding it

Thanks for the info hez101 but it's still a bit hazy on how to actually remove it. Does anybody know exactly or have a guide on how to do it as I don't want to chance pulling it straight out and breaking anything else?????

If it's the passenger side centre vent then you need to use 2 pieces of flat strip about 5mm x 2mm x 150mm long and bend 1 end of each piece at 90 deg. Feed one at each end of the vent through the louvres and then turn through 90 deg so that the bent pieces and pointing away from each other towards the outer edge of the vent and they should engage with the body of the vent. It's then a matter of pulling steady bit by bit on each one and easing the vent out.

Soz to be a pain custardsucker but it's the main adjustable single square vent next to the passenger side door. Left hand side/nearside vent. Which I believe is the one that blows air into the passengers face from the left hand side.

Ok.
Just use one of the tools as described above and position it on the middle horizontal flap at the thumbwheel end and ease the vent out. Refit by pushing in squarely with your hand. Good luck.

Thanks for everyone's help on this. At least I know I'm not gonna pull anything out that's attached to the vent and break it. Now to source a new vent lol. :D

Hi apples I'll have to let you know what colour vent it is that I require but I only need the one that's mentioned. I will remove it and have a look at the part number when I get the chance. I'm not sure what colour it is but it looks like a darkish grey but certainly not black.
