On Thursday I changed my boot bulbs to LEDs and blew the interior lighting fuse, changed it and now they're fine. Also proceeded to change my vanity mirror bulbs but they're not working and fuses seem ok (which fuse is it for the vanity mirrors btw?)

Noticed when I was setting off from my mates house my heater/air con doesn't work now! The buttons light up around it when I turn on my sidelights but the heater/aircon unit doesn't light up or work :(

Have checked fuse number 25 as it states in the handbook '25 heater blower' air conditioner' and it's fine.

So does anyone have any ideas which fuse it could be or any other possible causes for it not working? It was fine before I messed about with my vanity mirror bulbs and the unit was fully operational I.e no pixels dead etc :/

Thanks in advance for any help!

Peace!

The aircon fuse is on top of the battery not a 100% tho
Worth a look

Cheers matey! Yeah defo worth a look at least :)

When you check the fuses on top of the battery, Make sure you remove each fuse as they can look ok through the cut out on top of the fuse but they have a habit of burning out on the two pins of the fuse.

Have checked all my fuses including the ones on the battery and they all seem fine :S anyone got any ideas what it could be as to why my aircon/heater unit isn't coming on? :(

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Well guys and girls, getting pretty desperate now with what to try?

Checked the relevant air con/heater blower fuse and it seems fine! Anyone have any ideas as to what I can try to get my heater controls/aircon controls working again? It's getting pretty bad having to drive around with the windows down due to my windscreen steaming up :(

Or does anyone have any ideas to help reduce my windscreen steaming up as bad/much?

Thanks in advance for any help/ideas?!

Old thread o know but I'm now having this issue no power to the heater/climate control unit all fuses on the battery are ok and the fuses in the fuse box on drivers side are fine, anything in drivers footwell fuse wise? Only things I have done recently are brake light switch and put a new earth strap on for the haldex and done oil and filter for haldex . 2001 A3 Quattro

Climate unit not iluminating at all?

VCDS suggesting no comms to the HVAC unit?

<tuffty/>

The buttons light up with the main headlights once they are turned on, should I get it scanned with VCDS?

Also I should add that I did buy a spare unit a few months back as some of the button where sticking on the unit in the car. I swopped them over this morning and there was no power to that one either which came from a working car,

By lighting up I mean the digital display... trying to understand what is not actually working here... you say no power but something is happening as the illumination is working...

Yes... scan with VCDS...

<tuffty/>

Yes sorry there is nothing in the display and no red light on the auto button, I'll take to Indi specialist when I can as the other unit I have is doing the same thing

Just took the car to a vag Indi specialist the VCDS is communicating with the unit? They say they'd have to book it in to look into the power source to the unit

Bump. Anyone got any advise on where I can go with this issue now I've had it scanned but no comms to the unit/HVAC

Checked all the fuses on the side of the dash and checked the ones on the battery all look fine. Tbh I took it to the Indi specialist and the guy plugged it in and I saw he tried 2 different sections on the VCDS screen

Gonna have to be systematic and trace back through the wiring to see whats happening then mate... not sure what else to suggest at this point..

<tuffty/>

Cheers for you help tuffty I did take out the glove box, centre dash , and under the steering wheel trying to establish which set of wires are the power

Tomorrow I'm going to take the glove box , centre console and the tray from under the steering wheel out again, does anyone know of the top of there head if there is a relay I'm missing somewhere? I'm not very good with electrical bits tbh and don't have the money to send to a specialist to spend hours trying to source the problem

all i can ask is have you been messing with stuff near any earths, check the usual earthing points first, might be coincidental that it happened when you was messing with other stuff, take 10min to clean and check they are solid, the ones under the battery and under drivers dash. download vcds from rosstech its free and buy an obd2 cable of ebay for 6 pound and you can work with basic vagcom then...

When you say 'messing around' like I've said I changed the brake light switch as it was faulty and replaced the earth strap on the rear diff as it was snapped. Apart from those two things nothing has been touched, and like I said VCDS isn't communicating with the HVAC
