Retro fitting one of these vents to a S3

Interesting idea, subtle and perhaps an alternative to cutting the rubber seal at the back for airflow.

I say we need to Get some photoshop skills on it and see what it will look like.

We need figures to justify it as a mod which actually does what its meant to

LOL, when I seen that heading I was half expecting to see one of these......

Was the only Audi I could think of that had a vented bonnet, I've seen them grafted onto a wide arched MK2 Golf before but not sure the Sport quattro style would suit an A3 :)

Ewan.

Looks like a good idea mate, as said some before/after logs will have to be done to back this up as a possible mod for people but if i went big turbo i would look into doing this, its nice and suble.

ill do a photoshop tonight for u. post a pic of ur car or similar

my logs would be different to most of you lot as i'm sure that my 2.1 with a top mount gtx30 is going to product more heat than a 1.8T or std/mapped S3?

Come to think about it it depends on the boost levels?

Yea I suppose, you could place a thermometer under your bonnet, go for a blast record the temp then fit the vent and go for another blast, not too sure if this would be very reliable thou?

I reckon that'll look pretty good. Nice and tidy and not too OTT. Keeping it silver or black?

Looks good mate have to do this my self one day if it makes a difference

I have seen a RS4 or RS6 with bonnet vents on before quite similar to the old cosworth ones.

I think it was a limited edition anniversary for the US or Canada

I'll see if i can find a picture of it & post it up, but it was tidy & suited the car nicely.

do you actually think it will make any difference at all?

if you are bothered about the temp of your engine / turbo buy a larger radiator and an oil radiator

looks whack if you ask me

The old evo/ lancia problems... umwanted water in the engine bay... never ends well

Be a very steamy window,
And a risk of the turbo cooling far too quickly

I like that, what about a spaced off stainless under/ drip tray to guide the water away like the Clio Williams and 16v had on there bv's?

I like the idea and how subtle it would look,
But it think when you have taken the car soo far, It becomes function over form with thinking like this
