to all those at who are going to try and get the doors repaired under warranty, here's a probable response you'll get from Audi UK:
If your car is under 3 years old, hence covered under the paint warranty, you stand a good chance of getting it done
If it it out of the 3 year warranty, Audi will argue it is a paint issue and will refuse warranty. They're official line is that water gets in behind the trim and then eventually rust forms because the paint can't withstand the constant presence of water.....
They will argue it is not covered under the 12 year anti corrosion warranty as this only covers inside-to-out corrosion i.e. corrosion due to metal impurities.
You will get a load of b*llocks from Audi UK - they don't care about this issue and won't admit the problem (unless their attitude has changed since december).
You will have to fight! Send a letter to Kevin Rose - head of Audi UK stating your case.
They will try and wriggle out of it anyway they can so be prepared....
Alternatively email Audi Germany direct at:
service@audi.de
I spoke to them and they were very interested in my rust problems but they didn't get involved further as Audi UK coughed up on the repair jod. You can email them in English as there is a guy in technical who speaks excellent English!
It depends how far you want to go with this but it seems like more and more people are having this problem and it just isn't good enough......
