Right.

Getting quite /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif off now. Basically, I ordered a set of RS4 reps a month ago. They were 2 weeks late delivering (I paid extra for 2-3 day delivery and didnt get a refund on that).

Circumstances have changed and I have had to return the wheels. I called up a few days later and basically they said that my 7 day guarentee on returns had run out...I then explained to them that I had only recieved them a few days ago. The guy on the phone seemed pretty reluctant and tried to avoid everything I said.

I told him I wanted a refund and wanted to arrange collection. He said he'd "Get someone to come and pick em up" and hung up. Just like that.

I was stupid in thinking someone would actually come and pick them up. I called up again a few days ago (Last Wednesday) and once again asked them to arrange collection/refund. The guy on the phone said (quote): "Right, I'll get the guy to come and collect them and arrange it for tommorow" and hung up without giving me a chance to ask collection fees, the time he's coming to pick them up etc. Tommorow comes and goes without anything, no contact or email to say that there had been a delay.

So I called them up AGAIN the day after. I got through to the same guy who was very ignorant and said a similar thing. He said that he'd arrange for them to DEFINATELY pick them up today (Monday 31st). I havent heard anything yet.

I very much doubt they will get picked up today. And I very much doubt I will be getting a refund any time soon.

I must say, they are one of the WORST companies I have ever dealth with. Their employees are generally ignorant (I have spoken to 4 different members of their staff) and all seem to try and do anything to prevent you from getting a refund and their tone of voice is generally very ignorant.

They hang up without confirming or allowing any kind of questioning or arrangements (I've literally been cut-off mid-sentance) and only seem interested in you if you want to buy something.

I do NOT reccommend this company at all. Worst company I have ever used. Their customer service skills are almost nothing and their employees are generally very ignorant people.

To be perfectly honest, I am very much dreading calling them this evening.

oh dear, i had nothing but a* service from rochford. my mate jus got some rims 4 his evo 4, he is also v happy with their service

Another thing - one of the wheels I recieved had quite a lot of chipped lacquer/paint on the rim and was not packaged properly (the cardboard/bubble wrap didnt cover the entire rim face. This is one of the reasons I wanted a refund.

c.u.n.t.s tbh. So much hassle. £620 and you'd expect a decent service. Thats taken a huge chunk out of my finances for this month as thought it'd all be sorted by now.

Bit late now.

not if your returning the wheels and using the refund to buy more wheels...

I got the same treatment from a company called "Wheelbase".

Only too happy to sell you the product, but that all changes when there is a problem!

Makes you think twice about buying online! At least if you buy locally you can confront them face to face.

for future reasons please note this:

ALWAYS get things in writing/email/fax eg delivery dates and so on.

When I ordered my suspension and there was a delay the company were being iffy.

I sent them a email saying basicly

1) deliver within x amount of days AND give me a goodwill gesture
or
2) I will contact my card company and cancel the order. (which im entitled to do as you have broken the terms of the sale ie stated delivery time in email)

The went for option 1- got my suspension and some moneyback!

Drysdale, speak to your bank/credit card companies dispute section and they will advise you best

Yeah have to agree, people are happy to accept but never give back. All I can say is keep calm, even if it is frustrating, I ended up writing letters to the relevant companies and copy in the Trading Stadards. Normally I got the reply I wanted and the compensation to go with it. Just don't go off on one, did that once and got absolutley no where. Good luck

I'm sorry to hear your tale of woe but you're not gonna get any level of service when they are able to sell these wheels with tyres for £620.
Thats £400 worth of tyres so the wheels are £55 each. How much service were you expecting?
You pays your money... etc etc
It really makes me laugh when the great british public complain about service in this country and in the same breath want everything at "cut to the bone" prices.
If you want great service then try paying the going rate for wheels and tyres (about £1k).
I had nothing but excellent service from Rochford, ordered RS4 18" reps with F1 rubber on Monday, they phoned me Tuesday to say they'd been despatched, and received them on Wednesday. I did pay £820 for them. The wheels should have been packaged in pairs, face to face, so no damage is possible, at least that's how mine were recieved.

The fact that they arrived damaged really took the biscuit too. You'd expect a company who have been in business that long would know how to package wheels. Or maybe the low prices mean they cant afford enough cardboard or bubble wrap? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Sometimes happens with companies when they get successful, they grow a bit bigger, employ a bunch of new people and lose what set them apart in the first place. Sometimes it can be something as little as a sales meeting where the big boss decides sales bonus's will get kerbed unless the amount of returns are reduced. I still stand by what I said, a full refund on a set of cut price wheels is gonna be tricky, especially if one is damaged, (whoever you're dealing with).

Sorry but the price is irrelevant
You pay an item stated to be new and you pay a premium for it to arrive quicker.
It arrives damaged and late then you're entiteled by law to refuse it in 7 (or 14) days.
if it's a 25000k car or 20p donut it's the same.
The fact the item is cheap and as such they should not give a good service is also irrelevant. if they price it so low that they can't respect the trading standard then it's robbery plain and simple.
So get them to fully reimburse the wheels and tyres

As I said the transit damage is a separate issue, and he didn't pay a premium to have it delivered quickly. He wanted a full refund not a replacement for the damaged wheel.
Yes we can all take a business to the small claims court but does anyone really want that shag & hassle? I'm just telling it like it is, not how it should be.

AndyMac ....did you not read my original post? I did pay for it to arrive quicker (2-3 day delivery). Yet I recieved them a week and a half late with NO refund on the extra postage fee (they said it was the courier's fault!).

They STILL havent come to pick them up yet. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif.

And yes, whatever the item...all purchases from PLC, LTD etc companies need to provide a reasonable standard of customer care. I am soooo tempted to report to trading standards but doubt I'd get anywhere.

if they dont pick them up today I'm going over there with the wheels to give them a piece of my mind.

as you said it's a seperate issue but whatever the reason he can reject the goods and cheap or not they cant refuse to reimburse. If not it would be too easy...

I understand it and I would not like to be in his position however let not forget who's at fault here

I don't know where you get your facts but that is not the law. You can only get a full refund if the goods are not fit for purpose (damaged or undamaged), or if they have been rejected at point of delivery, therefore the customer never took ownership of them.

that's for internet order I think (???)
can anyone confirm?

Drysdale, if its not too far for you to travel I'd return the wheels yourself, I think they are entitled to charge you for the collection anyway. (if you do that, make sure you get some kind of proof that you have returned them)

I'd talk to the citizens advice bureau, they should be able to explain your rights and it wont cost you anything.

To me it sounds like they'be behaved like a bunch of dicks & dont deserve the business. Politeness & common courtesy cost nothing but go along way - shouldn't matter how expensive the item is. Try montys wheels & tyres in the future, they'll match Rochfords price & Paul is always a pleasure to deal with!

I'll second that, bought a set of RS6's from them a couple of weeks back and the service was excellent.
