just been for a drive with vcd-lite connected and set to measuring block set 1 ..was reading all four wheels at the correct wheel speed ..when the light comes on there's no reading for front left wheel but its fine on the rest, this is why i think its a short in the harness. having bought new...

hi vag-tech thanks for your quick response, i believe the air gap to be correct and the corrosion was fully cleaned up .. think everything is pointing to the harness . thing is it can be good for days then all of a sudden returns...... the car is a 1998(8L) s reg ...1.8 sport non turbo version...

Hi all ive been plagued by the same problem for a long time now...its the 00283 code (g47) front left wheel sensor ...i've fitted 2 different sensors which haven't sorted the problem last week changed both front abs ring hoping that this would help ...but no light is still on intermittently can...

so might need a new hub then..another part to add to the list..lol cheers tuffty

little bit of surface rust and doesn't look damaged. could i try cleaning the abs ring and if so what would you suggest i clean it with?? thanks in advance

hi tuffty..sorry for the lack of information, when i first replaced it was ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Left (G47) faulty. now after replacing its showing 00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Left (G47): Mechanical Malfunction thing is with it unbolted there is no error code, as soon as i do...

possible causes for the camshaft sensor- Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor - Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted - Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection - Faulty starter motor - Starting system circuit - Dead (Weak) battery

after scanning with vag-com got the 00283 code (G47)front left sensor. replaced the sensor and cleared the code but within 2 days it was back. so thinking the new sensor was bad i ordered another only for the same to happen again, so to cut a long story short ,now when i fit the new sensor...

did you ever sort this problem? as i also need to replace one of my wiring harnesses ...i think it may go to the abs module which is behind the air filter box
