    Sun visor vanity mirror light

All, The vanity mirror light above the drivers side sun visor is playing up. The bulb works, but only if I unclip the visor and rotate it back towards the windsreen. It won't illuminate in normal position. A loose wire perhaps? I've unbolted the visor and unhooked it from the roof lining but...

    Valve caps stealers...

I had the same problem on a previous car. Used a set of those security caps (with a 2-pronged key to tighten/loosen). They weld themselves on if you're not careful. Something to do with the metals reacting or oxidising I believe. Grease the threads before fitting, or just use black plastic...

    Tyre Recommendation

You happy with the Pirellis? I thought their life was excellent but I never liked them in the wet so changed for Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics. Difference in wet is amazing. They're no better, but no worst, than the Pirellis in the dry. Too early to say how long they'll last, but they don't...

Loss of power after first service (2.0 TDI 170 DPF)

I've had two instances of the DPF warning (emissions control) light illuminating. Both time were on a steady motorway cruise and the car is never used for short stop-start journeys. The car didn't go into limp home mode, but the light wouldn't clear following the usual reset procedure. It was...

Loss of power after first service (2.0 TDI 170 DPF)

Funny you should mention it but the problem is ongoing and the car went in last week for further diagnostics. It's been a while, but I've not had chance to take it back since the first visit. I collected the car late so didn't speak to the technician but the the invoice (FOC) states "Attended...

A3 8P Tyres - Goodbye Pirelli, hello GoodYear

I'm running at standard pressures - 35psi front and 32psi rear. I think Audi have the pressures about right for even wear across the tread. After a few thousand miles I'm happy with the GoodYears. Wet grip is a definite improvement over the Pirellis. I know new tread always feels fantastic...

A3 8P Tyres - Goodbye Pirelli, hello GoodYear

Just changed the tyres on my A3 2.0TDI 170 S-Line. I know there's a lot of debate on the forums regarding best tyres, prices, fitters etc so thought I'd post a couple of thoughts. The stock Pirelli P Zero Rosso (225/40 18) lasted well. They have just been changed at 30,105 (mainly motorway)...

Loss of power after first service (2.0 TDI 170 DPF)

My car had its first service a few weeks back (18500m, AVS, 16 months old) and it came back with an obvious power dip between 1800 and 2500rpm. Only noticable in first gear on a light throttle, but it's really annoying. The car feels reluctant to accelerate from standstill. It's a 2.0TDI 170...
