RNS-E replaced under warrenty.....

Hi guys,

I just had my rns-e replaced under warrenty because it was randomly cutting the passenger speaker out, however the new one doesnt saying "audi s3" when it turns on like the old one did just says audi MMI. Is there any way of changing this? sounds a bit lame i know but i spent more to get an s3, so i want all the bells and whistles.

also, im aware that the rns-e in the my08 s3 is different than the previous version. is there anyway i can tell which version the new one is? its got a couple more options on the sound control

Its a option that can be changed in Vagcom. Did they give you the new rns-e?

On the buttons under the screen does it say CD/TV?

can't remember off the top of my head, will look when i get up in the morning.

under the sound options (where u have fader, balance etc) i've got 2 new options there now (one for volumes, another for gala) which i didn't have before, so not sure if its just a software revision of the older rns-e

Change coding to 02xxxxx.
Change adaptation channel 018 to 1.
Restart the RNS-E.

Same unit, mk1 rns-e, not mk2 & as cooni says just an adaptation channel to change for the S3 logo, also what year map did you have in your old unit as maybe it was fairly old firmware you ere running, replacement is probably on the last 650 firmware anyway.

just checked the map disk and its a 2008 version, so expect the old one was out of date as you say. the new one is running the 650 firmware.

Shame its not the mk2, would of been nice to have ipod connectivity worth using, instead of that diabolical excuse of an ipod connection it has now

You & the other million lmfao, but it always puzzled me, why worry about ipod when you have SD slots, I feel no need for the ipod at all in the car, just more wires & hassle plugging in/out, sd cards are hell of alot smaller, give me text for tunes, albums etc, win win win for me although I like the newer setup, but the more technical things make it more worthy to me like OPS for a start.

I like using the SD cards to, purely because its easy to move music about on them, however I also use itunes on my iphone all the time, and due to having to reinstall my laptop, its a nightmare getting new music off my phone every time without it trying to wipe it! stupid apple drms

Optical Parking System, oooooh now he's intrigued huh.

As for Apple DRM, well you can download them drm free, convert to mp3 easily mate then use on iphone etc without any issues.

aye yea half the music on there is downloaded mp3's i just use itunes on it for convienience more than anything
