Hello to everyone.
I have Audi A4 B7 MY2008.
My head unit from the stock was Audi Conecrt II+ I have swapped it to Audi RNS-E, I have bought used RNS-E and it's old one. (192C)
I have very poor reception and an error in VAG-Com:

00858 - Connection; Radio ZF Output to Antenna Amplifier
007 - Short to Ground

I have read about different antenna system in Conecrt and RNS-E but I can't seem to fix it, because I have amplifier 8E5035225AF and rear screen with 4 connectors, and there is no such amplifier for RNS-E for my car. Or I should just buy a newer RNS-E unit, for example with 192T?

Just in case my VIN is WAUZZZ8E98A014287
Thank you.

Age of RNS-E will make no difference to your problem, they are all the same

Some cars have 2x HF connectors in their antenna amps, the RNS-E uses 1x HF 1x ZF.

Most people cope with just using the HF, the ZF doesn't make that much of a difference

So there is only thing I can do, is to swap amp and rear screen?
Witch do I need? Could you guys point me the part numbers?
Thanks.

That seems a bit drastic changing the rear screen, there are a couple of audio experts on these forums, try and start a thread in the audio section or try using the search button

In reality the RNS-E needs the same amp as every other radio, one with HF. The ZF is just a bonus if you have the option on your current amp

I have PM'd JohnS3 who has experience on this more than myself, maybe he can advise your best route, but from what has been said & my knowledge, only way to get the best signal quality would be the amp/cabling/possible screen change.

You would be best to ask someone who has the same car & an RNS-E from factory, for there vin number so you can check with ETKA which amps they have installed & the screen part number mate as there are several in ETKA.

I have a few VIN's from the cars who has RNS-E from the stock.
And they have totally different parts.
Some has same AMP but other screen.
I have amp with 4 connectors to the screen and I haven't found other screen then mine for it. So I probably need 6 connector screen and amp.
Anyone can confirm it?

We have covered a lot of this over on Navplus.us in this thread.

As it appears that no one has done an A4 saloon conversion before (or not shared the information) so Nectop is going to have to be the test pilot. Being the first will usually cost you many late nights, money and you also end up with quite a large spares collection. But you didn't need me to tell you that Mr N!! ;))

I wish Nectop well in his project and hope he does choose to share any information he discovers.

LMFAO, not wrong there mate, getting rid of the spares is the hardest part lol, but slowly going, then I think of something else or buy another car to mod, but better than ******* it down the drain or smoking myself to death I guess, got an SB to work on for missus, fancy doing an 09 facelift to that tbh.

Oh John.
I was afraid you will tell this.

Heh. I have already bought wrong amp with letter 8E5 035 225 P it has 6 connectors to rear screen.
Now I need to buy a new rear screen. But our local Audi Dialers are so dump.. they don't want to help and, what a shame, there is no cars with factory RNS-E in Russia, because there is no Russia Maps for RNS-E. Anyway, I have information that I need never RNS-E, and it will work.
Yesterday I have tried to check voltage on both coaxial cables that goes to antenna amps, and only one has 12V on it, the second don't ... Also, I have found that it looks like there is 4 antennas soldered on the rear screen but I seem to can't find any amp other's then mine that has 4 connectors.

So the question is, does both cables have to be with 12V? And what are the difference between RNS-E hardware revisions?

Hi, what voltage did you have on the second coaxial cable?
