I'm replacing the tatty gear change boot, removing the old one was easy enough, remove gear knob and pull.

I assumed that the plasic retainer would be held in by clips but I guess that would be to easy

I've uncovered the two rear 8mm headed screws holding the rear of the console in place, when I remove them will the console lift out or do i need to remove anything else?

Any clips etc I need to purchase before removing above items?

God I hate cars lol

The rear part is secured by 2 8mm under 2 little caps next to the seats ans a 13mm under the rear ashtray. The front section requires the front panel to be removed, the climate/heater controls etc.

IIRC to change the boot it unclips from the console taking the frame with it. You change the boot by clipping it back to the frame and clipping it back into place

Having a bit of a nightmare.

I think they built the car around the gear change boot

So far I have undone the rear part and slid it back allowing the console to lift slightly

Removed all the 8mm's from both sides (that I can see) and the console appears to be free both sides but I still can't remove it

It appears to be fastened on to the heater control unit or somewhere near.

Do I need to remove the front face that surrounds the switches, hu etc, to get at some other fasteners and if so what holds it in place (its unclipped at the top easily enough but the bottom doesn't look like its coming off anytime soon)

Thanks

What a **** of a job

Was concerned about breaking the front panel, which just unclipped
