Hi folks, just thought I'd stick a quick thread on about my experiences of fitting the Demon Motorsport TIP (ebay purchase).
I ordered this on the Wednesday night and it was on my door step on Friday morning. A quick check over of the part showed it was on decent quality and so far well worth the saving over the Forge version.
Before I talk about the fitting, I just want to thank A3Tom for his fantastic how-to thread!
After jacking the car up, taking all the ancillary parts off (air box/dv/n75 etc etc) and taking a look at the job from the top and the bottom, I figured this job may be very possible to do from the top only.
After popping the retaining clip of the metal TIP I was able to pull the rubber hose out. The with a long allen key, I got the bolt off the TIP-Turbo mounting and with a bit of wiggling, got the TIP out with the lower hose connection still attached to the TIP. This made it very easy to get this last hose off.
I attached the aforementioned hose onto the new silicone TIP and began trying to feed it down through the engine bay. Due to the location of two coolant pipes, this proved impossible. I ended up having cut about 5mm off the end of the TIP. With this done (and a bit more wiggling action) I managed to get the TIP down to the turbo. This was the point I was dreading, with the limited space I thought the only way to get the silicone TIP onto the turbo would be from underneath, however as soon as the TIP as over the turbo it slipped straight into place...winner!
Then ensued a lot of swearing trying to do the jubliee clip up onto the turbo, bit of a ****** to say the least. After this it was a simple rebuild until I came to the point of attaching the TIP onto the MAF/Airbox. It was too short by (you've guessed it) 5mm! However there is a fair bit of give on the Silicone TIP so I underscrewed the MAF out a bit, securely attached the TIP onto the MAF, then rescrewed it back in.
All done and I can report that the car feels a but more responsive (although not really any quicker) and the DV has changed in sound. I thought the DV was also a lot quieter, then I realised I was still wearing my beenie!!
