Just been trawling through some stuff on ebay and came accross these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Coilover-Heig...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2558814e9d

I thought to myself "they must be total gash at that price!" so I did a little searching. Turns out that the VW nuts in the USE seem to love these things and I found a monster 34 page thread on them where the guys on VWvortex just seem obsessed with getting their cars as low as possible, without giving any consideration to handling! Check it out if you're board:

I still have no idea if these coilovers would be any good (cant be for that price) but none the less the yanks seem to be keeping them in business!

EDIT:

Just noticed that the eBay seller has 0 feedback so he's never sold a set by the looks of things, so he has no business for the yanks to keep him in :p

yer i spotted these the other day mate and am thinking the same as you, zero feedback, stupidly low price equals pure *****??

i mean for £160 they could be a worth while gamble, if they crap sell em on, but if they turn out to be ok you just got the bargain of the century

question is who's going to take the gamble?

Exactly what I was thinking. The're obviously ok if you just want to drop your car as all the VW boys are doing it across the pond but how will they hold up after a few track days?

track days and british roads

in america all their roads are smooth as anything, one good pot hole could do some serious damage

They boast all the same stuff as the AP coilovers (TUV, manufactured in Germany, blah blah) which seem to be a good budget coilover according to a few people on this forum. So they may even be produced in the same factory at the end of the day!

i need new springs/dampers in the coming months and i will defo have these in mind for the price, i plan on going to the ring this summer too so will be a good test for them

theres no way they can be dangerous, they must meet some sort of safety specification / standards but the ride could be really crashy which i would hate

Have a read of the massive thread I attached in post #1 some of the guys there have said the ride is quite good and they are running their cars LOW!

I'm off to the Ring too in June but I'm only going to replace my shocks when they need to be replaced and so far the AP coilovers are top of my list.

I was trying to find some sort of UK feedback to these coilovers but cant find anything so I think I'll keep an eye on the eBay sellers feedback and hopefully people will start to buy the kits!

man, i got about 16 pages in and couldnt take any more of it lol

they all have this obsession with wanting to get their sump scraping on the floor and are moaning that these rokkors wont 'slam' the back end enough when they are rolling around on tractor tires!!

someone actually said he disconnected his 'swaybar' because it was fouling on his wishbone and just 'tied it up for now'

but general feedback seems positive on these, although mainly all they want them for is getting their motors as low as poss, i wanna know if they are gonna get me round a corner without biting me in the ***!!

like you say westle, i will keep my eye out for uk feedback and watch to see if that seller gets any feedback

Well the guy on ebay now has 4 kits sold, all with positive feedback. One was for a corsa so maybe it doesn't count :)

I might get some of these just to see how long they last. For £160 for the set is looking mighty good after being quoted £135 just for 1 standard rear shock the other day!!!

i been toying with the idea mate and i cant decide, one of my rear springs has snapped and mot is looming so need to do something soon

either replace with standard spring or go for it and get a set of these?!

have you noticed the forst 3 feedbacks were foreign, spanish something like that?

i was reading your thread about those springs that lowered by 10 or 20mm, did you not fit them in the end?

I'd try them for shits and giggles. In fact, I need new front shocks, so when I get to replacing them, I will buy some!! Who cares for £160??

yer man £160 if they do the job then you're quids in, if they are utter ***** then just flog them on on ebay

im sure some people on here would die at the thought of spending so little on coilovers though

I'll try anything once.

Plus gives other people the benefit of my spendthrift tendencies....

the AP coilovers are top of my list.

Ill have a set of 35mm spax lowering springs to sell as soon as I get my coilies if you need them.

but thats the same for all the no brand generic coilovers

when you order, see if there are specific part numbers for the 1.8, 1.8t, tdi coilovers. there wont be. its a one size fits all affair.
